KRP 56
OK one question for all you lucky dogs who are playing your hearts out while I'm not. How many SP modes does GRAW offer?
Steel1977
The first mission is really cool. It helps you get familiar with the game and also get into the action very fast. The graphics are pretty good, but the aliasing is noticable. Also I noticed no reflections on the water (around sewer). But gameplay is awesome, it plays very well on my pc. I love it so far. My rig: Pentium 4 3.0 ghz HT 1 gig of ram 160 gb hd Geforce 6800 256 mb Soundblaster live 24 bit Edited May 2, 2006 by Steel1977
Stalker_Zero
Ok dang nabbit someone start to seriously review this game including all the stuff we have been talking about from the demo. How does the retail version compare? Weapons (how many...more than demo?) That should only take a decent modder 5 minutes flat to figure out.
buddhiraja73
, it plays very well on my pc. I love it so far. You are running it on what setting ? Do you think that the full game is smoother or more heavy than the demo ? Thank you.
quiznoes
SP does have its low FPS moments but it's ok I guess... Now MP.. whoa wwhoa whoa. FPS is 5x better than SP allowing me for 40-60FPS easily

I am running some things on high, like character textures, ground textures, plant and prop textures. The other textures and the effect setting are on medium. I think it plays smoother than the demo. During the *spoilers* second half of the second mission you have to defend the garage against an attack and my fps went down to like... 8 *end spoilers* That was the lowest for me so far... VeLocityChaos
This game runs fantastic in MP. Im on a 7600GT. Med settings @1280 and it runs anywhere from 40-80 fps. Its always real smooth. No slowdowns. In sp im getting about 25-50 fps. *Edit* I have noticed that the MP can get laggy (bullet lag). We will def need some dedicated server files. LT.INSTG8R
So this is good news for all the MP skeptics, tho I am mainly a co-op player I expect it to be the same as SP as far as FPS goes, but the Domination mode does interest me as I would have liked that style of gaming from BF2(as we all know that was a stretch)
VeLocityChaos
The MP is great. There are lots of tactics involved. Just for example, I had just took over a zone. I then went to the adjacent zone and shot the car in the zone I was just in and the car alarm went off. Then some poor sap on the other team went to investigate my trap. WilPoPson
What about the guns, argh... It's all about the guns people. I pay GRIN $50.00, Nvidia $303.00 for my supper cool GS 7800 and all I want is a freeken shooting range with tons, and tons of guns. Do you get more guns on the SP mode? How many guns are in the game? Tell me about the guns. Argh.... I guess I will have to wait untill my freeken game arives. Argh... So far the guns in the demo are a pure joy to pop off. I wish they had a shooting range where we could try out all of the guns just like in AAO or one of the Splinter Cell games or was that R6? WilPoPson
Well thats a bummer, because in GR1 when you finished a mission with zero team deaths ect... you got another gun that you could use. Like the freeken cool MG3. Now with my Creative Z sound card that gun might make me go deaf, but I will grin the entire time. Pops,

The demo is actually only half a mission. Number of MP gametypes = 2, Co-op and Domination I'm not one to write up full reviews, myself, but I can certainly answer specific questions. Edit: Sorry, forgot to add the Zeus AT rocket in the weapons not included in the demo. Additionally there is air support from apaches and jets in the first few missions. I've only made it to the fourth mission thus far. Edited May 3, 2006 by TedSmith
RedHerring
Don't people remember when you first started out in GR you got to pick from: M16 M4 M249 I forget the name of the sniper rifle Only the specialists could carry different weapons which you had to earn. Here, we get 6 right off the bat which is cool. However, I still would prefer another sniper rifle and maybe another support weapon. Has anyone looked through the files and see any skins or files related to other weapons that might be unlocked?

The ghosts were closer to the US Army Rangers than they were to the 4-Man Generic Special Ops Team featured in every game and spec-op movie shown on HBO Personally, as much as I like the GR series and GRAW, I miss that feeling. That should only take a decent modder 5 minutes flat to figure out. ← Hello!!!!! ← Demo and Retail game feel exactly the same. There is no difference except for the fact you have the full game to play except for one part of a mission. Not much more to say. Weapons, well, there's the real problem I have. GR1 exceeds here in every way except for customisation. Colin had suggested that there are more weapons in the full version...still waiting for them.... . All I've seen so far is what you get in the demo: Primary: SCAR L SCAR H Mk46 MRC M99 M8 Secondary: M9 Glock M8 Compact MP5SD6 Others: ZEUS MPAR Graphics, well the graphics are no different either. This will depend on your rig though. Mine is pretty much as high end as you can get minus going into Crossfire/SLI. I can run everything at full at 1600x1200 with no worries. Looks fantastic. I don't give two hoots about no AA. It looks fine. This is a draw back from the deferred shading or something (IIRC) they are using. Don't care, looks good. Maps for MP off the top of my head numbers 5. Not alot. Should have been more. Don't know how many SP missions there are. But they tend to be quite lengthy on the harder settings, and the enemy AI is really very good. Ghosts AI is good too, though they tend to be a pain in the rear sometimes. I don't like how they are spaced out so far. Small teams would rather stay rather close then spread out over 50 - 100, which I have seen some times. It is difficult to bring down heavy fire on an enemy position when your team is blundering about 50 metres down the road. You should be able to set team spacing and break your team into 2 fireteams. GR1 wins here again. Squad controls and movement were MUCH better in the first. MP gametypes are COOP and Domination(I think that's what it is ??) haven't really looked at MP yet. Not enough servers or people playing yet. Thats it really. Good game, but lacks a few things which made GR1 really shine. Squad control needs much more focus, it's clumsy and sometimes really annoying. There needs to be a buttload more weapon loadouts. I want M4A1, M16A4/M16A4 SAM-R, M14 DMR, SR25, M240 or M60E4....so on. ACOG's !!!!! Where the heck are the optics ?? Engagements are sometime's over the useful range of the Aimpoint and EOTech, ACOG's ARE A MUST !! I also want to be able to mount optics and sights on the Mk46.. why only iron sights ?? Deploying the bipods are also something I want. Weapon selection need ALOT MORE FOCUS AND VARIETY. Overall I like it, but it does need work. EDIT: Would have liked some customisation of the kit the Ghosts wear. Different helmets, load bearing equipment, different uniform (ACU, Marpat....so on), at the very least in the MP game). HandyAndy
GRIN! Thanks for a cool game. I really have enjoyed playing it since i got it today. Some things though that I am having problems/ issues with. Single Player.... 1) The AI for our team are just plain dumb as a box of rocks. What i mean by this is this... I tell the guy to cover this area and he looks the other way? ######? I tell the guy to destroy this tank and he looks at it... decides if its an enemy... shoot his gun at it a few times.. then says oh ya.." going hot" or something whips out his Zeus starts to aim and BLAMO he is dead by the tank. Why doesnt he just do what I tell him to do? The AI for the enemy... well sometimes they are kinda ok.. I have seen them attempt to flank me.. But then again I shoot one.. (at a distance) and his buddy standing there not 3 feet from him does nothing.. No running for cover no return fire... notta.. 2) Multiplayer.. Well I am kinda disapointed at MP. I buy most of these types of games for the mutiplayer aspect in them... I understand you are trying something unique with the Domination mode but at least give us TDM? Also granted it is the 1st day, but in the 4 hours i tried to play tonight I got dropped from servers at least 50 times.. I dont know if its GameSpy (gayspy) or the game or me. But I have talked to others who have the same complaint. I play for 5-7 minutes and DROP. Or, at the end of the round... DROP!! Did you test the game on the network before release? Whats that about? Co-op is cool though.. at least I have someone who is not dumb as a box of rocks with me going through the missions but its kinda like a turkey shoot due the to enemy AI being as dumb as they are. But some ambushes have taken us by suprize but still..... AI=DUMB And there are still the annoying bugs of prone and not being able to move the gun below your horizon line. And I rolled a smoke grenade under a car today to see the effect... well it fell down into the vast pits of gaming hell never to smoke again. I had to roll another against a wall just to see the effect whick lasted about 5 seconds and disappeared. Hell Call of Duty's smoke nades last at least 30 seconds to a minute... Although, I have not seen all the maps due to the server limitations on the servers I played on and the fact YOU CANNOT CHANGE from one map to another WHILE IN THE GAME. You have to exit the game create a new one to change the map or put the maps on rotation. Which most people over looked that box check due to the pure giddyness of getting the game and trying MP! But, the ones I did see I would have to say are neato! Lots of hiding places and mazes of buildings... takes some time getting used to moving about.. Also I was watching a review of your game in the Dev Movie and there was a aspect that you could change the way you look Hat or rag head vs. helmet and your general appearance and the different cammo. Also where are the server settings at? There was a 10-20 min movie on your unique server settings. And you could change the way you want to set the sever up as.... US gets regular cammo and the Mexicans get digital cammo etc.... And kit restrictions..Like for example... No frags.. No pistols.. Pistols only.. etc... WHERE IS THAT AT? I know that was set up for the xbox but you guys could not do the same? It makes the game more personal, unique in a way... Sorry for the long winded post but I had to give an honest review... I still plan to play it and hope that gayspy gets their act together and quits droppin people and I guess I'll wait for the patch.
