The Battle for Monrovia

Images from the battle for Monrovia, Liberia, where use of iron sights is known to be strictly prohibited. Also prohibited are aiming, assuming a supported firing stance, and any common practice of marksmanship whatsoever. Hip-Hop/Rapper/Gangsta shooting stances are mandatory, the "Glock Foh-Tay" hold being the most popular. lethality is acheived by subjecting the target to a wide swathe of area fire, simliar to unaimed indirect artillery, or scaring the enemy away with gesturing and aggressive hip-hop style dancing while firing. Points are awarded for artistic effort, style, fearsome facial expression/vocalizations and blue duct tape.

Note perfectly executed flamboyant sideways-rifle "Glock Foh-Tay" running stance.

Amazing height and style on this one. Sure to impress the judges!

"Yo Yo YO, Fo' Shizzle"

i6fmyt.jpg

The "bring your buddy along" firing stance

i6fkuw.jpg

Firing from the hip while putting on the best "Game Face" and bellowing like an Ox - always sure to make your enemy skeedadle!

i6gml4.jpg

The "Homeless street person" anti-aircraft firing position being executed with great precision!

i6fl8k.jpg

Here we have a classic! The "prone Warrior " firing position - too bad the magazine spring has blown out from the bottom of his beautifully blue-duct-tape-taped jungle magazine setup.

i6flg0.jpg

Here we have Liberian militia demonstrating the "Soul Train" method of combat assault.

i6fln5.jpg

The Nautical theme is ever popular, as seen by this militiaman wearing the stylish Kapok life jacket.

Won't stop a bullet, but sure looks Boo-yaa!

i6flex.jpg

This pair is executing the difficult "Phat Bammer Swagger" shooting stance.

i6fll0.jpg

The Phat "Batman Begins" RPG firing position is new but hot.

i6fksl.jpg

While this appears to be a well-rehearsed combat assault maneuver, this militiaman is actually trying to keep birds from crapping on his car. Note the feather duster in the left hand for effect.

i6fn9t.jpg

This Militiaman executes the one handed high overhead blind shot. It is often used to indicate that "Da Brizzles over there".

i6fktx.jpg

And last but not least, these two are showing the proper way to fire a support weapon using the non-aiming duck-walk method, keeping at least five feet of linked ammo strung out from the weapon at any given time! Note the suitably awe-struck onlookers!

Disclaimer: All similarities to Rap Stars, Hip-Hop practitioners and Gangstas of all races, ethnic origins and religions, living or dead, is purely intentional.

Makes you wonder how long these fellows would last against real soldiers...

It really bugs me that the peacekeepers who are placed in these sorts of conflicts (or, more often, aren't) don't have a more agressive mandate, because I think a proper fighting force could hand these clowns' asses to them if they didn't have neutered ROE. Mow down the bad guys, save the civvies, get the ###### out.

I'm sure some of these clowns must of bought themselves this for their AK's.

 No way! Now THAT is too funny.

One wonders if they ever hit anything at all?

Out.

They don't. I know guy that was in SF in Vietnam, and I shoot with him on occassion. We wnt to a gun range once and some guy was shooting his Glock "gangsta style". The target couldn't have been more than 15 feet away, and he could barely hit the outer rings.

It is like the shooting that took place in either Philadelphia, or DC (can't remember), a kid drove by a school while his buddy dumped a 9mm Mac toward a group of kids he was trying to hit. It was caught on video from a distance and the Mac was being held sideways. Over 30 shell casings were found at the scene and not one hit anyone standing in the group!

Well ... it's probably not dissimilar to what happens in GR with n00bs ... had a buddy play me and he was just starting out ... he caught me prone as a sniper and came running full tilt directly at me while unloading his MG ... the noise gave out his position and after he unloaded what mustve been a boatload of rounds, I took him down with one shot.

I don't mean to make light of a very serious and grave topic ... especially having looked at the link and photos of child-warriors ... it is very sad.

But Spyro's commentary is just way too hilarious to pass up!!!

well said. This is indeed quite hilarious. . . .

but also very sad when you think about it.
