Ghost Recon Wildlands - Intel: Authenticity

Recommended Posts

Great Quotes from the video....

  • You do need to think....an react
  • We want tactics to be correct...we want enemy reactions to be reasonable
  • We worked with a number of experts on drug cartels
  • We did training excessive with guys in Special Operations and Special Forces
  • Maintain Authenticity of the Tom Clancy Universe
  • Nonlinear
  • Delivering on the original promise of Ghost Recon..of being a soldier in the Army fighting a small war...
  • Its what Ghost Recon was meant to be....

Burners Suggestions

  1. If this is modifiable it would be epic. It would be great to mod uniforms, sounds, weapons characteristics, AI behavior etc. (Although I know Ubisoft is thinking of expansions and many companies are not allowing mods any longer, however, mods actually increase sales as people are interested in an off shoot like DayZ so they buy the core game)
  2. The health system must be realistic to be authentic to the original
  3. First Person View option would be awesome
  4. AI needs to be a priority
  5. All the GR community needs is a platform (If not WildLands then we will find a spiritual to GR eventually, even if we have to make one on our won from the Unreal 4 engine! ).

Im glad they got together with the RedStorm Devs and members of the GR community. They even had Tom Clancys son speak on the authenticity, thats awesome. This tells me that at least some in Ubisofrt are really trying to get back to the authentic Ghost Recon experience. They do have to sell to a different generation of gamers which will pull them in the opposite direction, but hopfeully they can be true to the essence of GR.

Had a scroll through the comments on the video by YouTube watchers and the two recurring gripes were;

Downgrading: it seems to have escaped the attention of some, or they don't understand the implication, that Wildlands isn't being developed for last gen consoles and then being ported to PC

It's not a Ghost Recon game: even though the creators of the original are sat there in front of the camera saying it is.

I'm excited.

Tactics have changed from my day, when we had 8 member squads to smaller units. the US Military speaking from experence wanted to go from a large force to a smaller, more lethal and faster to get around the world force.

attack the objectives in any order.. finally, they get it. :)

Question: if someone can ask Ubisoft, If we play solo, can the game be adjusted so that so many objectives don't need to be accomplished?

instead of solo Rambo kill everyone mode, maybe as solo be required to take out several single targets to cripple the enemy moral and logistics.

solo like rambo isn't always rambo  mode, what about solo mode like splinter cell? Where you can still use, assault style and stealth style together  ..

EDIT: What FBI has to do there?  :S

The FBI is there because the FBI has two tiers of highly-trained counterterrorist units: the Hostage Rescue Team and SWAT. The Hostage Rescue Team is the FBI's elite CT unit, and regularly cross-trains with Delta Force as well as foreign CT units; military, law enforcement and otherwise. They do more than just hostage rescue, but that's their main focus.

The FBI's SWAT units are (in this case) most likely the regional ones under the control of the FBI Counterterrorism Division. They're not on the same level as HRT, but they're still highly skilled professionals.

The US Armed Forces cannot be deployed in an operational capacity on US soil except in times of extreme emergency. The National Guard is a different case, and can be seen responding to disasters and other crises, with the approval of the governor of the state where said crisis is happening.

That's why US federal, state and local law enforcement are responsible for dealing with terrorism and other non-military threats on American soil. The FBI has dealt with terrorist cells, gangs, kidnappers, bank robbers and more. That skill and experience is why the FBI is featured with the other CT units in Siege.

Thanks for the infos..

But are those 2 special units can be part of special operations outside the US?

Yes, though FBI SWAT is rarely deployed abroad, and mostly as support. I'd imagine it's mostly in places that while no US territories, are under US protection, like the Marshall Islands. HRT is known to deploy abroad and cooperate with other CT units.

GSG-9 is the closest analogue to HRT of the units featured in Siege, being an elite federal law enforcement and counter-terrorist unit. GIGN is part of the Gendarmerie Nationale, which is a military organization. SAS is part of the British Army, and Spetsgruppa Alfa is part of the FSB, which is sort of like Russia's FBI, but at the same time fairly different.

While I like the idea of the different countries being distinctly represented like in MoH: Warfighter, it really goes against the idea that Rainbow is a single multinational unit. In Siege, it's just a joint anti-terrorism force, rather than a single unit drawing from different countries.

I'm pretty sure the reason that they haven't formed a single unit yet is because Rainbow had just recently been activated, and the multiplayer is contextualized as their variation of training.

Then again, I am talking out of my ass.
