Poita Posted March 16, 2006 Share Posted March 16, 2006 I was just thinking, with the sucess of GRAW XBox and also this month the massive release of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on the XBox which is a truly beautiful looking game. And, the PS3 woes. . . . maybe MS can loosen it's 'grip o fear' on the release of GRAW PC media a tad early. In the interview for Oblivion the dev states that a high end PC and lunchbox360 are about equal in the graphics dept. In a year the lunchie might look a bit dated so that's even more evidence of why MS might try to keep info about PC releases subdued. All in all though i think MS are having a good month so come on Bill, unleash UBI and let us have a bit more media. Then you can get back to bashing the OLPC (one laptop per child) project hehe. I think the one where UBI needs content for E3 is more believable. IMHO Of course... it could really be that they are making improvments in the code. This doesnt explain the scant amount of media available though. You could also argue that the PC and 360 versions are so close that an info release (i.e. screenies) for one should give you an idea for the other so why release info twice. It's all part of the greater conspiracy to keep the cure for cavities a secret. It's a well know fact that the aliens at Roswell gave us the cure for all manner of dental problems but it was quickly hushed and kept secret from the public by the American Dental Association. That's right, the ADA is behind it all... they killed Kennedy, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrison and the list goes on. Now... they are holding back GR:AW. Bo better watch out... he may be next on the ADA hit list! Don't brush your teeth Bo! That's how they get ya! I´m sure there are still bugs in GRAW but why hold back new media footage? I´m 100% sure that UBI has the goodies (tons of new pics and videos) but for some reason doesn´t want to release them. I just don't see a good excuse any longer for the complete lack of information/videos/new screens, etc. It has been very cool that Bo has come here and given us the information he has, I think we all appreciate that. But the thing I have not seen yet is a valid explanation for the lack of information. Just tell us and we will understand. E3, Microsoft, Xbox 360, exclusivity contracts, whatever…we can handle the truth, just be straight with us. All this Microsoft/360 conspiracy stuff just isn't cutting it any longer. Every day that goes by it makes less and less sense. It just feels like a way to placate ourselves in hopes that the worst doesn’t happen. For one very important reason, WINDOWS IS A MICROSOFT PLATFORM. Holding back PC media is bad for them since most gaming PCs run on their freakin OS. I even remember reading something about how MS admitted not supporting PC Games as much as they could and they were doing more to rectify this. Now, I think that Poita's surmise about MS X360 concerning the complete media blackout of a PC game that is way overdue for release, is better than the apologists on this board saying it's simply not finished yet. They get a payment for every xbox360 game sold though. Sure MS want their os to continue being the os of choice but there ya go, sometimes even within one company they have competeing products and for a while ms have had to favour their console to give it a boost. That was quite a few months back, so the idea of them holding UBI back for this reason would totally contradict this. ← gr: aw pc is not going to effect windows sales.. i don't think that anyone is going to say, "oh look, ghost recon. i guess i have to go out and buy windows xp now" not too many serious computer gamers out there that don't already have windows.. however there are plenty gamers that would buy an xbox 360 JUST because of gr: aw. i would have the other day had best buy had any in stock.. kind of glad they didn't though. if this theory is indeed the case then i can only hope that the next ghost recon will be a DX10 windows vista game, and microsoft will flood us with pc info and virtually no xbox 360 info in order to boost sales for their new os. edit: however if you think about it this won't happen. there's only one reason that microsoft wouldn't want PC info released: it's clearly better than the 360 version. that being said, an inferior 360 version would only encourage the 360 owner to buy windows vista. As long we're floating baseless conspiracy theories, how about some of us go the other way, that this is to help the PC version, not the 360 version: Trying to maximize their sales of GR:AW PC, their profits, and to resurrect an aged PC franchise, UBI chose to delay the PC version of GR:AW so that its release wasn't overshadowed by what was sure to be a wildly popular GR:AW 360. Has it occurred to anyone that this delay of everything (demo, media, full release, etc.) could be a marketing advantage for GR:AW PC? Just a thought. With the troubled history that this game has, they should be sending us lots of love. It can't really be that hard. I do feel really confident that this game will be awesome, but we need constant hugs and nurchuring (sp?) This whole thing is starting to look and feel like the whole GR2 cancelation.
