I'm interested in seeing that review of yours Rocky. I've got mixed opinions about it. Most of it seemed like what I've heard BTDT's call "Green Beret porn". Aka: Fantasy hoopla with a loose historical background. It also seems that Keith Idema (convicted felon with no attachment to the US Army or SF) took advantage of an aging Robin Moore.

Hmm, that's news to me - I'd like to see the source of that info.

The book review is at http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/review-taskforce.htm, please start a new thread for feedback if you want to comment prior to publication - we have nearly hijacked this thread.

If you log onto the boards at www.socnet.com and look up Keith Idema in the Army Special Forces boards I guarantee you that you'll find a great deal of info on him. Mention him and it'll generate a ###### storm also. Socnet is the one place where the guys on there are 100% bonafied real deals. I can't remember seeing a single guy there with the "BTDT" tag saying a single positive thing about Kieth Idema.

"Christian Lowe, Army Times Staff Writer, was the first write the truth about this poorly written, poorly researched, and poorly fabricated book (23 June 2003 edition).

It is sub-standard in every aspect. The worst part is that unknowing readers will walk away from this book thinking that all Green Berets are like those depicted in the book. We're not.

My Special Forces brethren who served in Afghanistan had high praise for their fellow comrades and the support they received. This book trashes all of that. For the record, I did not serve in Afghanistan, but I stay in daily contact with those that did serve. They are uniform in their disgust for what this book will do their hard-earned reputation and professionalism. They can't speak up because they signed non-disclosure agreements. So I'm taking the risk to speak out on their behalf.

Don't buy this book; instead, send your money to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Those wonderful people help provide scholarships for the children of slain Special Operations personnel; some of whom are Green Berets.

Or, buy another book. Amazon can't control the accuracy of the books they sell, but you can.

Tracy-Paul Warrington, Chief Warrant Officer (retired), US Army Special Forces"

I pulled that off Amazon. I believe Tracy is a bonafied BTDT on the socnet boards. I'll see what I can dig up on Idema but I'll post it in the real military forums.

Sorry to hijack your thread, marcinko.

As far as my memory servers me, the Papashvilli model from the [Ghost Recon] edition came with a foot-long beard(or as we say in Spain, a 3-kilo beard  ) The original face .rsb for the character also has no shortness of facial hair.

The FBI agent who got Keith Idema sent to prison was later exposed as a russian spy. All Idema ever did was refuse to shut up about how large the danger was of Russian nuclear materials falling into terrorist hands.

In the book Idema is only in one section and then refered to later as "Jack" he was not affiliated with the Green Berets but was working for the Defence Intelligence Agency DI

Is that the same "Jack" mentioned time after time in Task Force Dagger?

I thought Id share there creed with you:

Brothers of the Creed

In dreams at night

I remember flight

With brothers of the creed.

Through blackest night

All-weather flight

The bravest of the breed.

Pilots, crewchiefs,

With warrior's beliefs;

As one we gave our all.

After endless briefs

Oh, what relief,

To finally get the call.

Into the night

We carry the fight

Wherever the Nation's need.

Our friend the night

Will cover our flight

With stealth we do the deed.

At dawns first light

I awake from the night

With a void, a pressing need.

To remember the flights

Through the darkest of nights

With my Brothers of the Creed.
