Marcinko
I have watched, and watched, and watched as we blew the hell out of Afghanistan, and thought for sure it would be a mod, nope none YET, well your wait is over. I am working on a total conversion mod based on operations conducted in Afghanistan. I am working on retexturing maps, and still yet need a mission scripter. And will have new maps as well. Grail
And DTD's mod is not just basd in Afghanistan. I didn't say it did. It covers the Delta/DEVGRU executive protection aspect of the current Afghan Ops. I mentioned it purely FYI.

Marcinko
Already have a ? Z, in ur time in afghanistan, did u see any american special forces using turbans, or anything of the sort??????? also, theres a kid at school who seems to believe the m16 was the primary weapon of the ground war in afghanistan, i say m4, which did u see most???????? by the way more pics posted
Sooner
I was not there; however, I do have military experience so, hope you don't mind my 2 cents... LOL I would say the M16 was/*IS* the primary weapon of the ground forces in Afganistan. The M16 is the primary weapon issued to regular US ground forces. And from past experience, the M16 is also the primary weapon of the Rangers. Don't shoot me if I'm wrong.
Sooner
Sorry for the double post but, I forgot to add that I can't wait for this mod!
Marcinko
Well, i just talked to good ole Piccolo, he said it would depend on the branch, although all the pics i've seen have m4's, but several on good morning america. Thanks for support Sooner, hopefully this mod will be out sooner i mean... dont mind my dull humor.
300Mag
Here are a couple I know to be floating around over there that are not quite as common as the others. 1) Armalite AR10T is in fact in the field 2) The AR15/M16 SPR (Special Purpose Rifle). There are better images of this floating around, but here's an idea. I think this has been modeled before, not sure. SPR Fires a heavy 77 grain sierra matchking and has a 1 in 8 twist barrel. Allows for longer range engagements. Edited March 4, 2003 by 300Mag

Streinger
@Marcinko (or should I say @GR Junky ) looking forward to try out the mod, any ETA yet? BTW, Croatian MPs are in Afganistan as we speak with the German contingent, so I'm following what's happening there closely....I'm thinking about an aftermath Afganistan mod... ZRated
As for SF in ghanny....we didn't see much of the 5th Group there where we were...but yes they wore turbons from what I hear....as for the primary weapon.....the 101st,82nd,10th MD,3rd ID all use the M4A2 as the primary weapon on the line squads.I'm a 240B gunner now..but when I was in a line squad I used an M4.The M16A4 is the new model out now...and usually your support or non-infantry guys carry the M16A2-A4...As for the loadouts..I'll go ahead and post the SOP loadout for a line unit. Riflemen-7 Mags (210 rounds),4 M67 frags Grenadiers-7 Mags (210 rnds),16 40mm 203 rounds,4 M67s SAW Gunners-2 boxes of 200rnds,4 frags M240B gunners,...well it's a crew served weapon..but the standard combat load of ammo is 900 rnds. These are just the loadouts minus equipment which there isn't really a use for in the game
Marcinko
Well, i cant begin serious construction till after the release of GRCE, i'm am after all packaing that beut But after that definent construction will begin. i cant model yet... i am gettin a new pc, and max is f'ed up on my current pc. So if anyone wants to help i have some weps and chr's i need made, i can retexture pretty good, and have permission to use bjb's chrs and retextured it to be pretty neat, in all i'm short 7 specialist, and have 4 new weps so far. Also Z, off the gr's ability, but did u see anyone with flash's. just wonderin, and what kind of toys were on the m4's usually?
ZRated
On the M4A2's (with the rail system..that's about the biggest diff between A1 and A2).....we mounted a PAQ-4C on the side handguards (I'm a leftie so I mounted it on the right)....PAQ-4C is an infared laser pointer just in case you didn't know.We also mounted an M68 CCO (you guys call it the Aimpoint)..it's a red dot optics device mounted on the upper receiver (where the carry handle comes off)...it's not a scope or a laser...just a fancy little sight which I shoot well with.I can't recall who made the Aimpoint reticule for GR..but I downloaded and installed it if you want to look at it.We DID have flashlight mount kits that had just come out for the A2...we all got issued them..and it was optional if we wanted to put them on..most people put them on just so they didn't have to pack it somewhere....they usually got in my way so I didn't ever use it....also with the infared spotlights on our NODS..they were pretty much obsolete....we only used the flashlights in urban training....we also had the "puss pegs"..which were the foregrips that mounted up front..again..it was optional..I had mine on so I looked all decked out with a super weapon when someone took a picture of me to send back home. Marcinko
What wasthe PAQ-4C's function, a laser designator? and did u wear kneepads and elbow pad's? Also, did u see any helmets other than that of the 10th mt type? Thanks for the feedback do far Also, does anybody have pics, or better yet chr's of foreign forces in Afghanistan, like SAS or th SASR? ZRated
The PAC-4C and PEQ-2 are infared laser sights that can be seen when wearing your NODS..since it's hard to aim through iron sights with a big old NOD sticking out of your forehead...they just made this laser to use instead....as for the "helmets"....they are all the same K-POT....just like the one you see up there on the banner....We wore knee pads and elbow pads....again they were optional...but you were stupid not to wear them in that terrain....or you were a wuss for wearing them...it's a catch
Marcinko
Never been to Afghanistan, or in a desert terrain as such, but i'd be considered a wous cause i'd have those kneepads on real quick I have seen a lot of pics of men without head gear or gloves, well maybe not a lot without gloves but head gear, i've seen it, and havent seen it, did u see a lot of this?
ZRated
Well a lot of that was depending on your company commander or 1SG...if were sitting around in patrol base or back in the rear...then we were allowed to have out K-POTS off..but we had to have our soft caps on.If were doing anything at all beyond the patrol base..or if our company was doing guard we had to leave them on....as for gloves....sometimes I wore them..especially at night....they issued us some gortex gloves..which most of us used when sitting around..but they were real bulky....the trigger well on the M4 has a little swivel for the bottom part to open up so people with gloves could actually get their fingers on the trigger.......I used the old style leather gloves and used glove liners underneath them.
