Stewy
Ok, i sit just me, or is the default SA80 wayyy to big in terms fo scale? It seems like in the game that the Soldeiers are holding a massive rifle, when really it should be a compact assault rifle, like the Steyr... Has anyone released a Mod that fixes it? Not that it's a big drama, because I usually use Steyrs...but the SA80 is a nice weapon to shoot...
mob
The scale is a little off, but the Enfield is a very bulky gun, and the receiver is much taller that the AUG or FAMAS. Another mistake is that the SA80 displayed ingame is a full-size assault rifle, while the real SA80 has a shortened barrel and a vertical grip instead of handguards. WytchDokta
The Enfield L85A1 (or "SA80") in GR looks to me like it's almost as big as the Enfield L86A1 LSW! Edited October 29, 2003 by -[NCM]- .:Nightmare:.
Stewy
Thanks guys, can anyone recomend a SMALL SIZED (not 100 MB) fix for this? What's the best SA80 mod that someone's done?
Chems
*hint hint, wait a few weeks
Pyro_Monty
Uh... a few inaccuracies in here, actually. The scale is, in fact, reasonably accurate with the real SA80/L85Ax being around 0.79 metres in overall length. The comment about the SA80 having a shortened barrel and vertial foregrip is absolute rubbish (sorry, not your fault - there was a time when RSE themselves distributed this false information). While a prototype compact version of the SA80/L85Ax was once designed, this has never entered service and, to the best of my knowledge, was never even produced on a large scale. Also, the differences between the L85Ax and the L86Ax are few. Namely the slightly longer foregrip to accommodate the extra barrel length and weight and underbarrel support, the bipod, the rear vertical grip and the over-shoulder clip. These differences do not make it a great deal larger overall. Good SA80 and LSW mods can be found in the 22nd SAS Equipment mod.

But Ghost Recon is set in the FUTURE and as such can reasonably feature weapons which are not yet standard or fielded (e.g. OICW). Given that the SA80 in GR is a carbine, it would most likely take the shape of the carbine prototype if it were to be properly depicted. snared_gambit
Get NMM's Rainbow team. It has a great SA80 model. If you want a carbine use the wonderful M4s from Standard Upgrade . . .

The thing is the the shortened version (heck, if it's ever confirmed as having been made) was deemed a failure in the 1980s and never even considered for British service. The SA80 in GR is an assault rifle - the shorty was not even going to replace it, just go along side it.

Argyll
I agree ,it is too big compared to the real thing!
Guest SI-Prozac
I remade the sa80 and sized it to length scale. I think its just that the GR characters r to small came out almost same as the regualr sa80.

Gerwin
Somewhere in the messy file structure of ghost recon (or one of its addons or sum of all fears demo?) there is an unused alternate sa80 model by Red storm, and the lmg version is there as well. you can work on using it yourselves or download this mod, which gives you optimal access to the entire redstorm arsenal: [Moderator Edit - Link removed. Explained below.] Edited November 4, 2003 by Pyro_Monty
Zantar45
The L85/SA80 in HX5 is smaller then the GR version. (plus a suppressed version to boot) Dont know how helpful that maybe though.
Pyro_Monty
Gerwin, sorry to remove you link but that site featured Sum of All Fears weapons for download. Unfortunately that goes against the End User License Agreement, which strictly prohibits the redistribution of RSE files, and therefore it goes against the rules of this website. Then why is there a SOAF weapons mod for download available on this site? " SOAF Weapons for GR A Equipment Mod by Parabellum Requires Ghost Recon Added on 5/18/2002 Weighs 1200 kilobytes" Under Equipment section on the Downloads page. Edited November 5, 2003 by Sgt.
