Papa6
Let Grin and UBI get the issues fixed. the way the disconnects are going, an expansion pack would be premature.

}PW{ Postal
Ok, lets put it like this then. Lets say Grin's whole team is working on bug/fixes. Putting together a nice list for when they are done and ready for an expansion pack is a good idea. Would you rather wait till they have already started making the expansion to start giving them ideas for something we would want in an expansion pack? Besides...just cause we put up what we want doesnt mean they are gonna drop everything now and start working on it because we posted it.....lol Seems better to give them info on what we want ahead of time rather than to wait. Also....starting this (what we want in an expansion pack) early gives everyone a chance to put in ideas or vote. DeathDealer71
I know there has been talk, but is there a confirmed expansion pack? I agree with what you guys said, fix the (remaning) issues, (which so far GRIN has done good at), then work on or at the same time work on the expansion pack. But I tell you one thing, to be accepted, the expansion pack better have it's stuff right. But I have faith GRIN knows what we want, and they will deliver. DeathDealer... You are correct, it isn't those things.... it's laddering in pool. However, I don't recall if it is 9-ball or 8-ball.
Lightspeed
If the Diesel Engine cant render fog, and can only draw distance to 150 metres then it will not be possible for GRIN to produce the wide open rural maps that we love. So I dont see how they'll get the gig, I thnk UBIwill look elsewhere.
-|-aMMo-|-
or atleast you hope they will look elsewhere, but Ubi doesnt have a good track record of caring what the community wants in a game.

It can render fog as seen in earlier screen shots, and the DD is more because a mod at the moment being produced, is far longer, and this is not urban. FI_FlimFlam
Most likely the fog and DD 150m limitation is for performance. Just like the recommendation to only 15 tangos spawned at a time on a map. The engine can do it, but most people's machines would be crying at the effort - not that alot already are as it is.... RAbbi_74
One could probably coax the current engine into a high LOD draw of the entire Mexico City map, but as pointed out above it would wreck a Cray and have Nvidia techies wearing adult undergarments and drooling on themselves. I respect the DD decision, as it works well enough with the maps we've been given. That's not my gripe with the engine... My gripe with the engine is with PHYSICS! Believe it or not, I think it's flawed in regard to character movement physics. Ever notice that when you are walking or running along a horizontal surface, when it suddenly becomes more vertical than horizontal you are still bound to the surface directly beneath you and you lose ALL forward momentum immediately? All characters in GRAW are apparently also equipped with Spider Man boots or something. Try this: Go to the top of a staiewell. Go to the opposite side of where you exited the stairs from. RUN into the opening in the floor where the stairs are. Your forward progress will immediately halt while you fall straight down, instead of gradually falling off as would happen IRL. This alone isn't such a big deal to me since we can't bunny hop like morons anyhow. But it underscores where a real limitation to the engine MAY exist. Unbinding characters from surfaces. I'd like to see some discussion on GRiN's part of the engine's capabilities and limitations, but I also doubt this is the right forum for it... If it releases after early next year, then why worry 'bout it? GR4 will probably be out, maybe not but awefully close, so do people go to GRAW or GR4? personally this time round, i will play test the crap out of GR4's Demo before even bringing the green out of my wallet. We certainly wouldn't want that. Cray's are expensive but adult diapers are just horrific. Egads!

Lightspeed
So we rename GRAW to AW cos there aint no GR about it, then they release AW Expansion. Meanwhile, a new Dev releases GR4 which is actually only GR2, but we wont care cos it will play like [GR] with better graffix. YAY!!

Lets see... hmm we'll make the guys that made Desert combat in BF1 do it... then we'll have another BF2 clone. How about.. lets hope they have been working and updating an expansion all this time with more of what we want.

Plus...do you really think GR4 is gonna be released on its first scheduled date? Come on...dont think soo! You can call it stupid but i think it would be perfect. Lets say they plan on a release of an expansion for the same time as GR4. Well...we all know there is no way GR4 would be on time so what better to make us content then an expansion pack. Personly i think if they do an expansion it would probably be out around christmas so it wouldnt conflict with GR4 anyway.
