Whats with the yellow filter?

Recommended Posts

I've been to mexico city and the roads, building and sky are not yellow. Why is it on the game? Shouldn't the ghost be wearign urban cammo rather than sand camo?

It isn't sand camo, it's Multicam. As for the filter, that's post processing. It's an increasngly common practice in games to alter coloration and similar details to add atmosphere to maps.

If you want, I can send you a tweaked file that tones down the effect significantly. You still get all the cool lighting stuff, but no longer will the world look like someone ###### in your canteen. See screenie below (ignore the mod stuff).

Yep, yellow and amber especially are known to improve contrast, which is why marksmen often wear amber lenses. Although the yellow hue in this game seems to make everything blend together.

But I do happen to like the post effects, it makes the game seem more cinematic to me.

DATA>SETTINGS>POST_EFFECTS.XML

Search for "Sepia_Effects_Opacity value= XX"

I halved the opacity values. Turns down the yellow without touching any other of the niffty post effects like glare or nightvision.

Strange, I can't see that anywhere.

In my Data>Settings folder I only have renderer_settings and sound_settings.xml

Any ideas?

This looks like the perfect fix.

I think you have to extract the quick.bundle file, and then you'll find that .xml there.

You will need Nemon's bundle extractor.

Download that here.

Follow vlad's instructions on how to extract properly.

Find those here.

Woo that picture without the post effects looks so much better, now im impressed with the graphics.

Does anyone know if there is a performance increase with the post effects turned off?

I hope it comes as a option in the june patch to turn it off.

If you completly turn off post effects, you will see a slight performance bump, but will loose quite a bit of graphical features (like nightvision). If you just tone down the yellow, you will keep the graphical goodness, but not see a performance boost.

I don't see it in the post_effects.xml, are you sure it's in that one?

Searching for Sepia_Effects_Opacity brings me up with nothing.
