Parabellum
Well, I just got done playing the SP demo for a bit. Here are my impressions: 1 - Gameplay is slow. Very slow. I think it's more realistic than, say, Raven Shield, but it will take some getting used to. 2 - The line between proper use of force and excessive force is very slim. You almost have to wait until the suspect starts shooting before you use deadly force. You can, however, use the tazer liberally. 3 - Graphics are amazing. The physics system is great. 4 - The audio is simply... perfect. Not much I can say about it at the moment. I'm in too much of a hurry to get back into the demo. firefly2442
Ya, I just played through it too. Audio is excellent. Character models are a little blocky and the faces are a little fuzzy but overall looking good. Does the gun seem a little sporadic when firing? I love the comply system. "Get down on the ground!" Sup
Anywhere you can DL other than FP? I keep getting dropped from the line. NVM: http://www.10-david.com/?p=news_item&id=
Parabellum
I signed up for a FP membership, just so I could d/l SWAT 4. I'm anxious to get my hands on the full version. I'm keen on seeing what the rest of the game is like, and how easy it is to mod for the game.
swartsz
just finished my first hour of Swat 4, actually my first hour of Swat ever, and i still need to get used to the speed of the characters. other then that i really like it, gameplay is great and it runs perfect on my system ( AMD 2500 XP, Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb ) the only thing i thought was/is that the weapons can use some improvement. Were the previous Swat games moddable and can we expect mods for this version?
Jack57
My first impressions are very favourable. As someone else pointed out, it will take a little while to adjust to the slower (perhaps more realistic) pace, but yeah it's sweet. Does have a slight Raven Shield feel to it. There is one thing that really shocked me - no sidestep while leaning - what the... This is 2005 right...... How can they have overlooked that? Crimson
My only beef is that the movement feels too slow. Overall, excellent gameplay. At 1280 x 1024 with 4x AA and 4x AF the game looks beautiful. Sound is good too, comming from my average Z-640s. Should be a great buy. Parabellum
I think the slower gameplay is somewhat more realistic than the faster pace of games like Raven Shield. I base this on the small amount of CQB training I received, wherein I learned that, unless you absolutely have to get into a room that instant, you're not going to be moving real fast. Fast=mistakes=dead officer.
Crimson
I agree that slower would be more realistic, but this is also a video game at the end of the day, and I think that if the movements were somewhat faster, I think it would make the game a bit more fun to play... but I still like it no matter what. Just a tad faster would be great. One thing that I miss from RvSh is the ability to crack open doors. I wish the devs had done something like that in SWAT 4. firefly2442
What'd everyone get as a high score? I got 94/100 and "Captain" on hard. Bean bag shotgun is NICE. I had the AI clear most of the rooms though.
Sup
90 on hard. I agree about the beanbag shotgun, it might become my weapon of choice. (I wish we could have had mp5s instead of m4s, though.)
GRT
I was using my 1911 through the whole mission. Took down 4 enemies by yelling at them and when they looked like were gunna shoot me id shoot them in the leg and then yell to put their hands up again. Great game, i like how when you throw a flashbang or stinger, that music goes on.
Rocky
I signed up for a FP membership, just so I could d/l SWAT 4. ← I held out for over 4 years before I shelled out for my membership a few months ago. Glad I did
Parabellum
I got 100 and Chief Inspector on hard. Everyone had beanbag shotguns and tasers, except me, and I had a beanbag with the 1911, just in case someone got surly. Some of those chaps are quite obstinate. Even after 5 or 6 beanbags to the chest, they still have to be tasered. One thing that I don't like - the taser isn't effective in the game like it is in real life. Even the baddest of the bad should go straight to the floor. Whether they stay there or not is another matter.
hotshot
I downloaded the MP demo from here, but it asks me for a serial number, depsite the fact this is supposed to be a public version (although i realise it WAS limited beta at first on fileplanet). Have i downloaded it from a wrong place or what??
snared_gambit
The slower paced gameplay was one of my favorite things about SWAT 3. Moving in the stealth clearing mode was tense, and still enjoyable. I just dled about 300 megs of mods for SWAT 3, and I love the game again. Dling the SP demo, can't wait to take down some suspects.
