SP Demo OUT

Recommended Posts

Well, I just got done playing the SP demo for a bit. Here are my impressions:

1 - Gameplay is slow. Very slow. I think it's more realistic than, say, Raven Shield, but it will take some getting used to.

2 - The line between proper use of force and excessive force is very slim. You almost have to wait until the suspect starts shooting before you use deadly force. You can, however, use the tazer liberally. :)

3 - Graphics are amazing. The physics system is great.

4 - The audio is simply... perfect. Not much I can say about it at the moment. I'm in too much of a hurry to get back into the demo. :)

just finished my first hour of Swat 4, actually my first hour of Swat ever, and i still need to get used to the speed of the characters. other then that i really like it, gameplay is great and it runs perfect on my system ( AMD 2500 XP, Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb )

the only thing i thought was/is that the weapons can use some improvement. Were the previous Swat games moddable and can we expect mods for this version?

My first impressions are very favourable. As someone else pointed out, it will take a little while to adjust to the slower (perhaps more realistic) pace, but yeah it's sweet. Does have a slight Raven Shield feel to it.

There is one thing that really shocked me - no sidestep while leaning - what the...

This is 2005 right...... How can they have overlooked that? :wall:

I think the slower gameplay is somewhat more realistic than the faster pace of games like Raven Shield. I base this on the small amount of CQB training I received, wherein I learned that, unless you absolutely have to get into a room that instant, you're not going to be moving real fast. Fast=mistakes=dead officer.

I agree that slower would be more realistic, but this is also a video game at the end of the day, and I think that if the movements were somewhat faster, I think it would make the game a bit more fun to play... but I still like it no matter what. :)

Oh, I agree, for sure. Just a tad faster would be great. One thing that I miss from RvSh is the ability to crack open doors. I wish the devs had done something like that in SWAT 4.

I was using my 1911 through the whole mission. Took down 4 enemies by yelling at them and when they looked like were gunna shoot me id shoot them in the leg and then yell to put their hands up again.

Great game, i like how when you throw a flashbang or stinger, that music goes on.

I got 100 and Chief Inspector on hard. Everyone had beanbag shotguns and tasers, except me, and I had a beanbag with the 1911, just in case someone got surly. Some of those chaps are quite obstinate. Even after 5 or 6 beanbags to the chest, they still have to be tasered.

One thing that I don't like - the taser isn't effective in the game like it is in real life. Even the baddest of the bad should go straight to the floor. Whether they stay there or not is another matter.
