Lightspeed Posted February 19, 2008 Share Posted February 19, 2008 Well folks it's been a long and dusty road...but we are the final stages of packing and testing for this Tournament Mod. What will you get? Let's start with a brand new concept for Sniping in [GR]. We felt that Sniping in [GR] was a little tame and easy to pick up, so we went back to the drawing board and worked how we could do it within the confines of the GR engine. Better and more delicate aiming systems, and recapturing the essence of realistic sniping. I think Thales has nailed it with his Sniper rifles - sensitive reticules coupled with a fully-scoped vision means you will need the other key ingredient for any good Sniper. His Spotter. Without him, you are a dead man walking........a long way. Your Spotter will carry a long range Spotter Scope to help you find the targets that your Sniper will struggle to locate. He will also back you up with his light SD weapons and his back pack containing other items of use to you in battle. So you want to snipe? OK, but you'll have to work for it - you will travel great distances and have limited opportunities to complete your objectives. Patience will be your greatest virtue. But don't worry Spotter we will provide you with some extra objectives to keep you working for your rewards and your enjoyment levels up. (Some tasks may go beyond the call of a realworld Sniper Team..but we reserve the right to tweak certain missions to balance realism with entertainment). So what else will you get - 10 tournament grade missions spanning 4 classic GR maps and 6 rarely or never seen before Custom maps. A smorgasbord of Sniper Rifles and small arms. New characters, skins and actors. New vehicles. New objects to add variety to the experience. And we hope......another enjoyable Mod which proves again why [GR] is still so good. There is no limit of teams per clan, what means clans may sign up many teams, i.e.: Clan +BR= Teams: +BR=1 - joe and terry +BR=2 - mike and tom +BR=3 - dave and patricio +BR=4 - mark and jerry You may join of course without an "official" clan, just need a partner to sign up ! That means two weeks aprox from now, thats a ggod time for sign ups and players train a bit not only shooting but specially stealth, as this will be required. IRL, both members of a Sniper Team are in fact trained as Snipers and are both able to take the long range shots. Likewise, both members of a Sniper Team are trained in the role of Spotter. In the same way, we will allow players to interchange their roles at each new mission so you can both enjoy the different roles. As in previous tourneys - missions will be released as you complete each previous mission and you will have a set time to try each mission. I will post more rules later when we have our own forum set up and maybe a few screenies to whet the appetitie.
