Ryan243
I've never read From the Earth to the Moon. I have read 20,000 Leagues under the Sea and Master of the World. They're good. Mostly (as far as SciFi goes) I read Robert Heinlein and David Drake.
The_Slink
Ever get the chance, track down The Rats, The Bats and The Vats, the sequel, The Rats, The Bats and the Ugly or Pyramid Scheme by Dave Freer and Eric Flint. Absolutely brilliant. (Escpecially Pyramid Scheme if you're into Greek myths)
Ryan243
Rats, Bats & Vats and Pyramid Scheme are right here and available for free. I've downloaded both and will be reading them after I finish Flight of The Falcon by Wilbur Smith (apparently it's also known as A Falcon Flies). Ryan243
It's good for sci-fi.It should be. Baen is an American publisher that specializes in Sci-Fi and fantasy. That's all they do. For older books of any type, Jules Verne to Jane Austen to Immanuel Kant to whatever..... try here: www.gutengberg.orgI'll have to look into this one in more detail tomorrow. Dan
manuel or automatic?
The_Slink
Have to drive manual for the full license.
Dan
nice, manuels are better anyway. Car i smashed was a manuel, and the new one is auto. Sure, auto is very lazy, but i think i still prefer manuel.
Ryan243
Went for my first driving lesson. Didn't hit anything. You're sad you didn't hit anything? In that case better luck next time.
The_Slink
Still nothing after the second lesson (and third time on the streets of eShowe....) Very disappointing really. The people kept dodging. Cowards.
Ryan243
You might have better luck around a university. Students tend to pull out of parking lots without looking (at least they do here in America). And pedestrians never look before they cross the street. Best of luck! The_Slink
By the time I get to uni I'll have my lisence and it won't be as much fun anymore....
Ryan243
That doesn't mean you can't go run over university students and hit their cars now.
The_Slink
It does. I'm not going get to a university until next year February. By then I should have my license. My town is out in the gamadoolahs.
Ryan243
My town is out in the gamadoolahs.I live out in the middle of nowhere too. 1 hour drive each way every day. But at least by living with parents out in the country, I don't have to pay rent or buy food.
The_Slink
Let's see, I'm 45 minutes from Empangeni, about 88km (1 hour with traffic) from Richards Bay and about 1/5 hours north of Durban. ###### end of the world. It isn't that bad really. And it is a town. A small town. Edited September 29, 2005 by The_Slink
The_Slink
What did you think of Mr Freer's books?
Ryan243
I finished Rats, Bats & Vats the day before yesterday. It's good. It's very funny. I started Pyramid Scheme yesterday. I'm only to chapter 20 something. It's good so far. Lately I haven't had as much time to read as I'd like to. It's funny, I had planned to post this today, and I log on and find you asking about it.
