  1. A friend of mine have same frames using 1X 7800gtx 256 or 2 of them in SLI....maybe depends by that 'alternate frame rendering' option? Could someone explain better? I dont have SLI so don't know, but I wish to help him SLI is working OK with GRAW demo right now? ← Normally games are rendered in SFR mode (default), but SLI supports two other modes as well, AFR and AFR2. With a program like Nvtweak, you can create a new profile for the game and select/force another rendering mode (AFR in GRAWs case). It´s quite simple and some games perform better with the other rendering modes, but since even the latest driver doesn´t include a GRAW profile (the next one will), you have to create one for yourself. Check out this older post of mine for more information on this topic: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...16entry361616
  2. Thats a little strange. It is hard to analyze what you mean without seeing it first hand, but feel free to PM me your system specs (I´d say mods would appreaciate to keep this thread clean from tech support like discussions) and what settings you run the game at. Regarding the graphics bothering your eyes, this might be (lack of) the AA issue, and/or AF related. Just PM, preferable with a screenshot (that you can take with fraps) and description what part exactly bothers your eyes.
  3. performance is worse? in a previous post i thought you said it was smoother. which is it? ← At first it seemed to be smoother until I was out in the open more. It does seem a little worse like the graphics are kinda choppy or something hard to explain. Like I said it is alot more colorful then the demo map but to me it does'nt run as smooth. I have changed the XML render file and made everything high texture, but did the same thing in the demo too, and the demo just seemed to be smoother. ← I would say the retail game has a few more textures than the demo and when you set them all to "high" and don´t have 2GB/512MB vram, it could explain the chobbyness. Best way to test it out is to keep an eye on the HDD light and see if its being accessed when you experience any cobbyness ingame.
  4. german? say did GEZ charge you for your cellphone and Pc yet? I read that the GEZ is charging peeps who have video cellphones and Pc's because you can get TV. (not meant to get off topic) that just came to mind ← No the stupid ass GEZ doesn´t charge for PC/cellphones (yet), plus who says I have a PC/cellphone/TV or radio? Hey rookie, once you get the game, can you post if its multi-lingual, or German-only? If it is German-only, I´ll import the english version. Can you post or send me a PM when you know more about this point? Thank in advance!
  5. Would you mind posting your system specs? Do you use a dual-core CPU maybe?
  6. They don't have the same guns as us... Unless your saying in the game mexicans use the weapons developed in the US? ← IN THE GAME, look at the weapons the mexican soldiers have when you shot them. They are the same guns the ghosts have. I'm guessing that's the easy way of making allowing you to pick up ammo. ← Definitly not the same guns, except maybe the Beretta. Maybe you are confusing the G36 with the XM8? Anyway, some guns from the mexican rebels share the same caliber, and that ammo can be picked up. I don´t know if the other Ghosts can pick up that kind of ammo as well, but I kind of doubt it. My guys never ran out of ammo in the demo, but then again I killed most of the enemies anyway.
  7. Thats okay. Good to hear that it worked for you as well! Now I´m wondering if its worth to ditch my Audity 2 ZS, and get a X-Fi Fatality myself.
  8. I read on another message board that an user with a X-Fi Fatality card was able to set his ingame Audio quality setting to "Extreme" after switching his card to "Game Mode" in the Audio CS software. Any owners in here who can do the same, and want to compare the two settings, "High" and "Extreme"? I´m really curious how much better the sounds are. TIA.
  9. If there was a way to open and extract the "quick.bundle" file, it shouldn´t be too hard to change the color. Maybe it will be possible to change the color "ingame" by a console command.
  10. I understand now. I guess its the same demo after all then. lol But yes, like Cutter said, doors can´t be opened.
  11. Where did you download that version from? It sounds quite different (different mission) than the english/international demo.
  12. The range finder seems to be in meters, but thats at least how it looked like to me ingame.
  13. Are there ladders at the building that might lead to the roof? You sound German to me, do you have the German version of the game? Is it multi-lingual or German-only? I hate localized versions but if the game is not multi-lingual, then I have to import it.
  14. http://www.ageia.com/products/drivers.html ^^^ These are the latest drivers, they are also newer than the demo ones. When you install them, you can check and uncheck several items, including the system tray thing. The runtime alone doesn´t hog the system at all, it adds the (hopefully) necessary drivers, and you don´t have to deal with the auto-update either. I agree with Rocky, that it would be nice to if we knew how these drivers affect physics performance in GRAW on software-physics-only/non-PPU systems.
  15. Done. Bo has, as you all know, already cancalled his membership here at gr.net because of this kind of posts. People who give up their social life, personal hygiene and and most of their sleep (on a sofa at the office, mind you) to get the job done and please the customers deserves a vacation. Anyone who disagrees needs to get a real slaparound. We will come back to the office with new found energy, inspired and more than willing to correct our mistakes and polish this game even more - trust me. As for what mr Girard said - I guess it's his word against ours at this point. Thanks for stickin' with us. ← You´re welcome! Honestly, I´m sad that Bo has cancelled his membership, because I personally highly appreaciated his posts, input but MOST of all, his energy that convinced me to believe in the game at a point where I was highly believed that it got canned. But I can´t blame him, nobody has to accept personal insults. I´m glad you are sticking with us! Anyway, enjoy your vacation and thanks for your post!
  16. Hanners, why didn´t you disable the Catalyst AI? Why didn´t you use the latest driver over on Nzone.com (84.43) but used the latest ATI driver (AFAIK)? Just curious, thats all. Very good write up though and it would have been perfect if you had been able to benchmark the 7900GT and 7900GTX as well.
  17. Are you suggesting that software with an autoupdate feature might actually periodically check to see if there's an available update? Weird. ← Some actually do that. Firefox for instance checks updates (and extention updates), Valves Steam does as well, but in both cases you can disable it. Lot of anti-virus apps seem to check if an internet connection is present. Yes they usually have an option for this scheduled update and you can even pick the days, but there more as well. Edit: Nevermind, I am a little slow today. I think I finally understand your 3 winkin smilies better.
  18. I thought it was needed because of the physics engine that is used in GRAW. The physics engine, Novadex, even when its running in software mode (without the PPU) might optimize the CPU usage of the physics. The software has also an auto-update function, which might be the one that triggers the firewall.
  19. I gave the demo a 9 out of 10, and thats only because its a demo. The full game (if its anything like the demo) will get a 10/10 from me. I love it when a game was tailor made for my taste and preferance. I love it. GOTY for me.
  20. Colin McRae Rally 2005 has a DOF shader, and Tomb Raider Legends has a DOF setting as well. NFSU2 was claimed to have DOF and there was even an ingame setting, but I never actually saw that effect there. I think DOF needs to be extremly subtile, and its overdone both in CMR2k and TRL. I don´t need DOF to give me a feeling like I have an eye-sight problem, and seeing a "blur" wall in the distance and in the middle of the screen is pretty dumb as well. IMO, the right way to implement DOF in a FPS is to only DOF the "edges" (half an inch, or 5% maybe) of the screen, to simulate the loss of detail that our own eyes experience in RL at the edge of our own vision as well.
  21. Another thing I was wondering about. Is the distance and arc of the GL nade realistic? I never shot this thing in RL, but I´m just curious. Also, it seems like it doesn´t shoot with an actual phyical ballistic arc. When I shoot straight up in the air, it doesn´t seem to come back and hit the ground again. Thats one thing I liked about FarCrys GL, the arcs were influenced by the angle of the rifle, and if it was shot straight up, it came back approx 100m ahead of you after a while.
  22. I mentioned another detail regarding the mags a few days ago. When they are not completely empty, you can still see a bullet on the top side of the mag, when they are completely empty, there is no bullet anymore either.
  23. post-mortum reflex maybe? Joking, yes the blinking might be another minor bug.
  24. I am assuming you have not laid that vehicle out with a gl? I have hit it every time with a grenade launcher and every time there isn't much left of it, the telephone poles, the light poles, the stop lights, and the two cars close by...the windows are least of my concern, but it seems they are obliterated too lol ← Nope, i was just shooting out the windows, one by one, for each vehicle. I mentioned the hummer-like vehicle because when the reinforcement guys are running out, they leave the rear door open and it could be perfectly used as cover and the window is in the perfect height too. I love the way you can shoot thru the windows, there are no "invisible" walls which stop the bullets, or anything oldschool like that.
