What does this mean?

Protection added against the GR Server crash hacks he wrote, or he's helped write that part of the code?

Just one suggestion though, package the Beta and Update into one install file.If its to complicated to get installed people won't use it.

i am sure this is a great thing for ghost recon so dont get me wrong. i think we need anti cheat solutions for gr...the longer we wait for a gr3 the more cheaters come in and try to make it like they did with other games (cough*diablo*cough) still, can somebody explain to me what this means by checking the sizes of folders. i checked my folder sizes compared to the ones mentioned and most were correct, but a few were either smaller or bigger depending on legit downloads i have added. like making the enemy ai harder or adding more blood to the textures. i have extra kits that i have made so my friends and i can play gr in a more challenged way. these things change the file sizes and i just wonder how that would affect me playing on one of these servers.

Putting this bluntly, if you mod your game, you need to mod it as a mod. Don't add to the original files or alter them, it's that simple. This is how many people can cheat, that's why incorrect file sizes are a good indicator of a cheater. If you don't want to play with cheaters, don't be one and/or alter your game in a similar fashion. To play with anyone, such as your aforementioned friend, you both need to alter your stock files in the same manner. This is commonly referred to as a mod. GR has such a great built in mod activator that you need to use it and stop playing silly "i'm not cheating but i've altered my stock files" games.

Sorry to be harsh but this is the first big no-no in modding.

DON'T ALTER THE STOCK GAME FILES.

so my question still remains, this would stop me from being able to play on one of those servers? thats all i wanted to know. i realize no system is perfect so i am not about to complain. i just wanted to know.

sleeper, no worries, man. i just remember "mods" that alter the original files. texture mods for extra blood or mods that give you better command maps? even harntrox has released things that copy over your originals or add to them. oh, fng server-sided maps add to your map folders and throw the count off, too.

As some who has helped with mod projects and done test on some mods.

I always have had 2 copies of the game.

seperate drive for mods and testing and main drive for playing.

This works well.

if we could get it tweaked in 2 ways -

1) [Thing that should not be spoken of here IAW Forum Rule 3.7] allowed (yes i own the game, but many may not know where their disks are after all these years of using [Thing that should not be spoken of here IAW Forum Rule 3.7])

2) Allow the use of Grid Maps created by ToP_Gunz (best ever made)

2) You can use your own Grid Maps , I'll let Vitoto comment on this on the how-to part.

2a) I use the grid maps made by MP (aka Major Player) with the ACP and they are the best around :)

OK I can answer these for you

TRR Maps are all ok as they are in the missions folder and work just fine

Night and Day Environment maps are not ok if the .env files are in the map folders. if so just move the env files in to mission (They still work) Or download some new ones. I have them on my site

Command maps

Overwirte the command maps in mods/acp/command mpas/ and you can use whatever command maps you want

We have comprehensive help and information on our forums on this and are now making every the =LT= Anti Cheat Mandatory for all matches on TaG

This news has now been posted on UBI.

The beauty of this software is it is a continuing project that is supported by the community, as the hackers move to get around it, it will update to stop them. The Anti Cheat is available to everyone and runs like a mod, and must be activated to join, there is a lot of information and help concerning the installation and running of the mod in the TaG forums. We hope this release of the Anti Cheat and the decision to make it mandatory on our ladder, will encourage players back to GR at least until the launch of GR AW and hopefully beyond that.
