  1. Wow, it's been a minit since I've been around the forums. Looks like you guys did some redecorating since the last time I checked in. New board software, new colors; hopefully the same old GR crowd. While I was away boosting my education & career up a notch, I was plagued by a statement by one of my professors. He said - and I quote - "I wish there was someway to keep up with when my IP address changes so that I can get into my server at home..." Well, I picked up a class on VB.Net and just went nuts. I kept thinking about that one statement as I went through Server '03 & Networking 101. I thought about it as I studied Cisco & network security. And for the last 3 months, I thought about it while I Googled how to write a Windows service. And now I offer you the fruits of my labor for evaluation and critique. I have just released the first beta of DynIP Monitor and I would be most honored if the same community that shared the love of a game that got me into networking in the first place would put its seal of approval on it. You can get the software at http://webpages.charter.net/bodhis3mta3/dynip I'll check PMs on this board periodically or, if you prefer, you can email me directly @ bodhis3mta3@hotmail.com Be gentle. And thanks a million...

  4. thanks, ronin...in retrospect it was a bit busy, so i retooled it to be simple, matching the simple color scheme. alpha channels, eh? musta been one of those things i haven't stumbled (a truly appopriate word) across yet. but it's fun so i'm learning
  5. After kickin' around from public server to public server, I finally found enuff fanatics to start a clan. [~=NightCrawlers=~] hereby introduces itself to the Ghost Recon community. Only four members deep right now, we all live hectic lives and tight schedules - between work and family and school (and school is not just for the younger ones, we have 2 adults who are full time students). We get together when we can by constantly communicating and keeping in touch to synchronize schedules and get a game on. Current Roster: [~NC~] Rion [~NC~] SupaChunk [~NC~] Major Package [~NC~] Bodhis3mta3 We're not organized enuff yet to start recruiting, or even to finish a co-op mission...but we play. We'll keep you posted as to when and where when we get to that point. We all look forward to seeing you on a map somewhere in the future. Good luck and Godspeed. the bodhisattva [~=NightCrawlers=~]
  6. my very first sig.... the bodhissatva [~=NightCrawlers=~]
  7. I'd be happy to rip it my own CD if I could get some links to the files
  8. (sniff sniff) i don't know what to say.... I have found the holy grail.... THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! Now begins my modding journey ending......(?)
  9. (begging) pleez for the love of tom tell me where the plugins are pleezpleezpleez I have tried EVERYTHING to find GR plugins for 3DSM and I just can't find the damn things. The closest i got was a search for them here: http://www.maxplugins.de/max4.php (search for ghost recon) that lead me to links for piestatctics.com http://www.piestactics.com/files/archive/d...ile.asp?id=4010 whose server, ironically enough, is disconnected. Pie however did have a link for a mirror at none other than -yep- GhostRecon.net. I can't find the f#$%$n mirror!!!! I'm beginning to think (don't get offended cuz it's just my paranoia again) that these "plugins" are a figment of my deluded imagination, "pipe" dreams, wishful "thinking".... pleez save me from myself
  10. http://www.discreet.com/products/3dsmax/ubisoft.html Check out this page. It's discreets promo site for 3dsm. If you click on "Order Demo CD" and fill out the form they will send you a FREE fully functioning 30 day demo CD. That's how I got my copy. Yeah, it's only 30 days, but it's fully functioning and that's better than nothing. the bodhissatva
  11. (scratching head) How can you not like a Tom Clancy title? I think if I were the only person in the world buying their games I would happily support their whole financial endeavors for the rest of forever. Through all the R6 releases (except RvS, only have the demo now) to all three GR mission patches (and if I haven't found all the community-wide mods, I'll keep looking) to reserving my copy of Splinter Cell (wooohoo!!), I have not found ONE of their titles I have not played to the end more than once. Their games are a whole new breed of FPS, and even in online MP, the stress is not on the shoot-em-up-and-kill-em-all mentality, but the strategy of cooperation in completing a mission in a real (soldiers, don't take that too literally, please) battle manner. (sigh)Even on my broke-down, 3-year-old, out-of-date, lowest-possible-LOD, always-frustrating-but-ever-faithful simple beige box, I enjoy getting killed as much as killing. And yeah, it's not for everyone. But it is the one that gets the most CPU-time in my world....
  12. I'm currently working on this rig, have most of the stuff already. Then pic for the box should be under extreme computing, around page 8, I think. The rest of the links should be direct hits. I'm dumping a 2.4 Gh/533 mh fsb P4 in with 1Gb of pc2700 ddr, want a 120g hdd w/8m L2 cache but will probably have to settle for later. 15. hey, no prob on the diagram. I have enough time between classes to do a little surfing but not enough free time to work this mod. I just got in my copy of 3dsm and downloaded a ton of tuts from the community, but the homework comes first, you know. Maybe I'll hash out a bit on semester break, but the rest of you guys, don't wait on me. Glad to be of service. If you make it before I do, toss me a link for the d/l. the bodhisattva ps, I need a cool pic of the smiling buddha. Let me know if you can help. Thanx.....
