Fort Strike v2 is now ready for release.

Only a few changes here from the last beta:

1. Props brush that was blocking your view near the HUMRAAM objective has been removed.

2. The movers near the bus at the insertion point have been moved to stop you getting stuck under the bus.

3. I have added/changed some ambient sounds for the night version.

Fort Strike

Mission Author: JohnTC02

Map Author: JohnTC02

File Size: 42.4 Mb

Version: 2

Your mission:

Insertion is via the rear entrance of a building, once you enter the building the mission will start, there is no insertion road for this mission.

Your main objective is to Secure a large Fort, this is heavily defended by rebels so take your time and keep your eyes peeled, you also need to locate the HUMRAAM depot then destroy all armour.

Other objectives are to retrieve any intel, destroy the supplies depot, and secure the data centre.

Objectives:

1. Retrieve Intel.

2. Destroy Supplies.

3. Secure HUMRAAM Depot.

4. Secure Data Centre.

5. Secure Fort.

Map list for Dedicated Servers:

coop_tc02_fort_strike_night_v2

New features:

This is the first ever map for GR:AW2 to be made using custom buildings only, there are no stock buildings on this map.

I have found a new way of using the laptop as an "Intel" objective, this is done using an animated overlay on the laptop screen.

New buildings:

There are 8 new buildings in this map, 7 of which are used to create an enclosure for the Fort objective, the other building is a small dwelling with animated sliding doors, see pics below.

Custom sounds:

Included in the download is a sound mod that you need to install to hear these new sounds, you will see a folder called "Custom Sounds Mod" in that folder are full instructions for installing the mod.

Installing this mod is a one of process, you only have to do it once, after that it will work for all my future missions.

If for some reason you choose not to install the sound mod the mission will still work but you will be missing out on the new sounds.

Switches:

As usual this mission is adaptive, if you are playing alone you will be in Easy mode but if more players join then it will update itself and then be in Hard mode.

If there is more than one player the mission will be in Hard mode but if all but one player leaves, the mission will then be in Easy mode.

Easy Switch:

If there is more than one player then use this switch to play the Easy version (this switch does nothing if you are playing alone).

Hard switch:

If you are playing alone then use this switch to play the Hard version (this switch does nothing if there is more than one player).

Thanks goes to the beta testers:

Strongly suggest removing the glass-breaking ambient SFX. It may bring up one's heart attack.

Bug: the nasty "eventmamager.dsf" crashed my gameplay twice. It happened when I blow up those (floor 2) barrel of supplies (supply A?) in that "fort".

Also, please consider modifying the trigger of that panhard located at the "fort"'s entrance (near the transmitter sub-objective, if there're other(s)), which I think is fired much too late. My character was left with nowhere to hide when he came along the northmost path (in particular, staying on the right-hand side all the way from the beginning structure) and approached the lifting gate.

That's just a normal crash, nothing I can do about it.

These often happen when your PC is unable to cope with the resources needed for the effect, since upgrading my PC I hardly ever get this problem.

Then I had to say thay your (mission) mod isn't even as friendly as GRAW2 itself. :fingersx: Mod makers should keep compatibility in mind, or at least I'd prefer to believe in so.

All I do is make these missions to cater for the majority, they ask for all these innovations in my maps so I do my best to deliver, it's not possible to please everyone.

On a side note, my Daughter (Sonia) has a mid to high range laptop and she doesn't get that many crashes when playing my missions, in fact I think I get more than she does but mine are usually weapon related.

It's also impossible for the majority to have PCs with hardware similar to yours or hers.

Candy, If you dont like the game and the efforts our fantastic modders put into this game go play dominoes instead and stop slagging off the people that keep it alive because its not funny.

Thank you.

I won't be pointing out what's going prevent other people from enjoying this game if I don't like it in the first place. :whack:

I would like to point out that myself and multiple other people I used to play with using completely legitimate steam versions had crashing issues with pretty much any map. Our computers were not the absolute newest, but not ancient either.

If GRAW2 had trouble on my 3GHz Phenom x4 9950, 4GB RAM and GTX460.. then that is pretty messed up. I know a 9950 is sort of a joke and teh rest of the system is not exactly high end, but it should be more than enough for GRAW2. (GRAW1 and ARMA II run fine!)

Actually, on this system I was originally using a Radeon HD 3850. I have not played GRAW2 more than once since I got a Radeon HD 7950.

(playing alone vs hundreds of baddies is just not fun imo, and nobody I play GR/ARMA with wants to play GRAW these days)

But still, crash after crash, retail or steam does not matter it is all the same.

Anyway back on topic, I did download your map because I DO appreciate people putting work into mods. I want to see the custom buildings mostly.

Thanks Oelmuvun, I'm not suggesting everyone that is having crash issues with the game are using a hacked version but I do know of some that are.

It's strange that some can play the game with hardly any crashes or issues while others cannot, I have a fairly good gaming PC and since getting it I hardly ever have any crash problems unlike my old PC which would crash the game constantly.

Even the editor is now quite stable and I can spend several hours modding in there without any problems, we all know how buggy the editor is but since the PC upgrade it's much better, strange!!!

I agree with you John.

I really hardly ever get crashes anymore with GRAW 2.

What you need to do for starters is limit the amount of maps you have in the custom levels folder as some maps can clash.

I have had this, but no more.

I have a Phenom II Black Edition Quad core processor running at 3.4Ghz with 8Gb of physical ram.

My Graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series card with 1Gb video ram.

Gigabyte motherboard GA-790FXTA-UD5.

FYI Oelmuvun.
