the.ronin
Dude, we were missing our entire midfield. That was a 2nd team playing yesterday. Also, German fans were putting mad pressure on the team after an Italian 4-1 ass wupping - there was even talk of the German coach being offed before the World Cup. We were walking straight into the Lion's den in this one. In a way, I am glad that the U.S. got its ass wupped. The next few friendlies are all non-World Cup teams which the U.S. will likely sweep. They needed a good kick in the ass to remind them that they're in Europe now.

Avey
Neo-Nazis threaten Muslims for World Cup "THE World Cup in Germany is set to become a battleground between fascists and Muslims, an Italian member of a new European neo-Nazi movement warned. In a statement published by Italian daily Repubblica, the member of AS Roma's notorious ultras hooligan group claims neo-Nazis across Europe met in Braunau in Austria to plan attacks against supporters from Islamic countries during the World Cup in Germany from June 9 to July 9. "We are united. For the first time we are talking and planning together, with the English, the Germans, the Dutch, the Spanish, everyone with the same objective. At the World Cup there will be a massacre," said the Italian ultra. "We will all be in Germany and there will be Turks, Algerians and Tunisians. The Turks, we can't stand them. In our country (Italy) there are not many, but in Germany, there are many of those guys there. They are Islamic terrorists. "We will attack them. They are all enemies that need to be eliminated, just like the police. If we make the Roman greeting (the fascist salute) they put us in prison. We will be tens of thousands. Nothing but the English are feared." http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,18561280-401,00.html Crikey.

CommandoCrazy
The name's Kahn, Oliver Kahn. ← Indeed, he is the scheisse. ← ... and he won't be the number 1 for the World Championship!!!! Jürgen Klinsmann (our national coach) and the DFB (german football association) stated today that Jens Lehmann (FC Arsenal London) will be the number 1 !!!!!! In my opinion, Klinsmann's decision was absolutely right. Although Kahn and Lehmann are at the same top level, both belong to the world's best goalkeepers, Lehmann is the better choice, because - he plays in the English Premier Leage which is one of the world's strongest and has 3 top-teams (Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester) which means a really hard competition between those teams. The German Federal League has only one top-team (Bayern München). - he still plays in the Champions League and just made it into the semi-finals with Arsenal - he's more the team-guy than Kahn is. Kahn is more a lone wolf who doesn't integrate too much into the team CC
Avey
Jens Lehman is a nutter. He doesn't like anyone going near or challenging for the ball with him. He is often pushing people over and generally antagonising opposition players. The guy provides entertainment.

the.ronin
One of the main reasons why I so admire our USMNT is the fact that they are so grossly underpaid compared to their foreign counterparts that you could drive a truck through the gap. Yet they still manage to play their heart out on the international scene. Anyone who knows what I'm referring to realizes it's quite a sight to behold. Sure, many if not the majority of the players in the MLS couldn't hold a candle to their Premiere League or Bundes Liga bretheren ... but a handful of them (Landon Donovan, Brian McBride) choose to play in the U.S. despite having been wooed by foreign clubs. So here's to the USMNT ... 2006 MLS Salaries vs. World's Top Paid Players
