EricJ
Made this today, as we were rolling out of the main gate into sunny Tikrit to head back to our own FOB: http://562.50megs.com/Iraq/RolloutTikrit.zip
Devil Dog
Eric it toke you 5 seconds to load your M4. Is that your fastest time or can you do it faster? I'm just curious.
Chems
I think most people record there reload time in firing situations, ie up in the firing postions, taking on mag out and another in and firing again, he was in a Hummer with no mag in with the gun held up in front of him. A cool video to be sure, not gonna win any oscars thou you could go for the blair witch type film, thanks for sharing that Eric.

But I would say that on average 5 seconds is the norm. One time I got stopped because the bolt didn't slam totally forward, so I had to slap the magazine, which was probably around 2-3 seconds, but doesn't feel that way when you're in contact. It simply becomes automatic through time and experience with your weapon. One soldier who I knew said that when his weapon stuck, he simply pulled back on the charging handle, without thinking about it, then continued firing. Same way with the magazine changes. It's just automatic. You think about it for the milliseconds it happens, but while you're thinking, you're acting. Actually the M1114's are very good at acceleration, given the weight, and the engine is more than capable of getting that vehicle moving. I gotta watch myself when driving on the FOB to not go too fast or I will get my license taken for a week... Plus I'm a little of a speed demon on the roads too... Mamon
do you ever have any security problems with humvees getting stolen? when i found out how easy they are to turn on and operate i thought in iraq with all the iraqi contractors etc, working on bases they might get taken
EricJ
Nope, we got M1s on post . Even if they get off post, there's Kiowa Warriors with Hellfires. And besides, there's some goober walking around with full magazines, should they overpower someone. Plus we escort the ###### out of them. Besides, even if they thought about it, it probably will be overpowered that the fact that we pay them. Not much security yeah for that, but Nobody doesn't watch them. Devil Dog
Is that a aimpoint sight on the M4?
Whisper_44
Yes - he uses the Aimpoint and you can see from that video that it doubles as a carry handle
Devil Dog
Isnt an Aimpoint only good for CQB same with the reflex sight?
Whisper_44
I believe he has the zero set to 300m IIRC, since in effect it co-witnesses with the BUIS & A2 front.
EricJ
Pretty much, though I haven't done much long range shooting out here. Maybe 150m on one occasion.
