Lightspeed
I've been wondering what to do for my next project. And I think I have the answer - Korea Rising. A modern campaign set in Nth Korea using predominantly the YOTM maps and some other Asian-feel maps. I want to exploit the speactacular jungle maps of YOTM but in a modern day combat environment. I'd like to know who would be interested in coming on board. I'd be looking for Nth Korean army character makers. Not sure what vehicles would be required - could prolly use some stock vehicles...Ill look into it. And some scripters too to help me out. Plot is in early days, but essentially, it involves insertion into Nth Korea trying to remove Kim Il Jong from power and weaken his forces into submission. I don't want to cut corners on this one. Lemme know if you're up for it - new scripters looking for some scripting education feel free to participate. Together we can produce a high quality mod. ty Lighty. CommandoCrazy
Sorry if my question sounds stupid but is there even a jungle in North Korea? I mean it's a good bit north of Vietnam CC
Lightspeed
you know ive never thought about that, i just assumed lol. i'll investigate some. also keen to lmpw of someone can point me in the direction of all of blackops vehicle images - so i can see what is at my disposal. thanx
NoQuarter
Yep, cold up there in them hills, "Frostbite" would be a better benchmark for a NK scenario. Militia Man and Blakarion have both done campaigns based in that region and I seem to recall a NKPA character from one of them. Blakarion's vehicle packs contained a "motorpool" mission so you could take a walkthru around all of the contents.
callmehobbes
Also YOTM maps aren't to be used for any other mod.
CommandoCrazy
Also YOTM maps aren't to be used for any other mod. And if the mod would require YOTM to be activated? CC
Lightspeed
Where duz it say we can't use YOTM maps to make cusotm missions? I'm thinking to get the benefit of the gr8 maps, might have to switch to an Indonesian campaign.
sleeper
I wouldn't imagine that there were any jungles in North Korea. I was stationed in S. Korea a few years back and there were definitely no jungles there. We got some snow during the winter, lots of rain and pretty much just plain regular weather most of the time in Seoul. If you watch M.A.S.H, that's pretty accurate as to what S. Korea looked like in my experience. I can't imagine how N. Korea would look much different. Lightspeed
yeh i checked it out - no jungle. for some reason i had always pictured korea being close to vietnam - don't know why. ima have a rethink about this - really want to get max use out of the jungle maps. Giampi
Definitely it's a great idea to make a new, modern, campaign based on YOTM. YOTM should be used as an active mod. Apart Indonesia, you can use set your jungle mod in Myanmar, Thailandia or, moving continent, Brazil (I like that!), Venezuela, Colombia and so on
Lightspeed
well I've been talking to Jay and I think we're settling on a winning campaign. we were looking at what might be the next big conflict - we thought of small spec forces operations around the world against small terrorist regimes. we have settled - he duznt know this yet, lol - on what could be the next big world conflict. the plan to utilize a number of maps from around the world - the theme the fight for Oil. will keep you posted - but seriously, the more good modders involved the better.
