  1. MC Hammer - U can't touch this
  2. One of my favourite shots has to be St. Paul's Cathedral during the Blitz, along with earthrise on the moon. My most unforgettable image however, is of Apollo 17 Astronaut Jack Schmitt running across the Moon's surface to prospect for samples at Camelot crater. How must it have felt being the first, last and only scientist to have walked on the face of another world, and even then knowing how little time there was to do so?
  3. I quite often get to see these (and various other flying things) around here - Only just missed out on a lift from one as well a few weeks ago
  4. Heh, I know it's Hollywood, I just assumed that there was some factual background as to why it was 'illegal' as they don't explain why in the film - leading me to believe there was some sort of common knowledge which they expected the audience to understand and that I was unaware of! On a slightly related note is there any truth about 'running for the border' in the US then? Again I've seen films of chases stopping at the border due to jurisdiction but is that again a case of 'Hollywood-isation' and running for the border for real in the US would be as much use as say, running for the England-Wales border here (or maybe even my flower border for that matter)? I'm still coming to terms with that fact that TV and Hollywood might have lied to me! [edit] Oh, and is Burt Reynolds impossible-looking moustache real then or was that invented for the film too?[/edit]
  5. So, there was little me watching 'Smokey and the Bandit' (Not much else on, and an evening watching someone thrash a Firebird round isn't too bad really ) and one thing set me wondering: How does 'bootlegging' work in the US? The whole crux of the film lies in the fact that they're not supposed to take Coors "East of Texas" - but why? If I went to Cornwall/Cardiff/Aberdeen and bought a vanload of ale, then brought it back up/down to Liverpool nobody would stop me (and there would be no point except for enjoying the scenery/sheep), or is it something to do with state taxes - if so, I was under the impression that alcohol taxes were a nationwide thing, and would that mean you could bootleg petrol, cigarettes or anything else which is taxed? Confused but curious, Dickie
  6. Cpl_Ledanek - why am I not surprised you found that one...or the USB pole dancer!
  7. Sounds like an interesting role Is this a strictly part time (I assume the National Guard is part time, like the TA is here?) thing for you, or do you plan to join the regular army in the future?
  8. Congrat's and good luck! For those of us who don't speak US Military, what will you be doing as a cav scout?
  9. My favourite so far
  10. http://tjic.com/archive/attitude-poster.jpg [Oversize image changed to URL - Please see forum rule 3.14- Large Images]
  11. A couple of other threads on this subject - http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=284330 http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=285534 I just can't understand the attitudes of some people
  12. I was more worried by whatever it was that kept making my page jump back to the Orange advert in the middle of the page. Is THAT going to be a common thing in the future?!
  13. I've just come across this thread (how did I miss it?! ) - and you are one lucky bloke! Looking nice so far, is the red the original colour? Oh, and if we ask very nicely is there any chance of some sort of video or sound recording when you get it fired up?
  14. Wiki entry here. Seems to be more of a coincidence (according to the band and the label), but it's still pretty neat. This website has the supposed full 'backwards lyrics' on it, and includes this quote: Satanic or not, Stairway to Heaven is still one of the best songs ever.
  15. Like I say, I could only pick it out when I had the reversed lyrics in front of me so I knew what I was listening out for, personally I doubt that there's much in this besides a slight coincidence. Still a neat idea though!
  16. Anyone seen before? I could only hear it when I was reading the supposed lyrics, but could it all be down to the power of suggestion? Any ideas?
  17. Hardcore music? There was me expecting to hear the music of Angel Eyez, CLSM, CRW, Visa, Eclipse, Insight or the like. Nah dude, I was referring to music, not electronic noise.
  18. I actually found that funny with the hardcore music in the background - what the hell was that all about?! I'm currently trying to build up (very slowly!) to single armed pressups - anyone here ever manage them?!
  19. My copy arrived this afternoon - I've just watched it and have to say it's pretty good, and a really good insight into the life Naval pilots lead. The dogfight sequences in particular are fantastic!
  20. Pics I took: Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4 Pic5 Pic6 Pic7 Pic8 Pic9 Pic10 Pic11 Pic12 Pic13 Pic14 Pic15 Pic16 Pic17 Pic18 Pic19 Pic20 The last couple are when the moon was actually red, some are clearer than others but they're all there and you can clearly see the progress the shadow made.
  21. I got one!!!! Going back to give it one more go, then I'm off to the beach to get some good ones...
  22. OK, I've got the Tv wheel - that's what I've been playing with. It goes from 4000 to something like 6"0 (whatever that means), a few other sites suggest 250-400 for a moonshot? I've also set it to 'M' and just tried to keep the light meter to the right like you showed and I've got a couple of good ones, I just need to keep it steady so I'm off to build a tripod or something (so far I've only been able to blue-tack my SLR to the windowframe), ducktape won't fail me! And a bit thanks for the advice!
  23. Hang on, so ISO isn't shutter speed?!
  24. My best attempt so far: 1600 ISO 4000 on the black-knob on the right of the camera (whatever that is) Light meter is bang on centre and won't move. (Edited as geocities wasnt letting you show it mate)
