  1. As the great Warren Spector said while speaking about game design in the original Deus Ex, "I've always said that we wanted to make a realistic game but any time reality gets in the way of fun, reality loses." That's the way it should always be. I too am continuously bemused at how later titles in PC game franchises have less in-game options than their predecessors. The R6 and GR/GRAW franchises have both suffered massively from this phenomenon. I realise that it has a lot to do with the shift towards console-centric development in the gaming industry but still, it sucks, and it makes no real sense to me. (btw my comments are not intended as a knock on Grin in any way, just a general comment.)
  2. Hey Mr Ichabod.... great to hear the mild panic of the last coupla days was nothing to worry about. If you can let us know at some stage that there's a good chance you're going to add a decent number of extra [GR] maps in future patches (not overnight of course, but in the medium term), then you'll make a sale out of me...
  3. I'm all for dissing on Ubi and everything, but with all respect to you, I think you're kind of missing the point. Buying stock will do nothing but help Ubi to continue to do what they're doing now. It's not like you're going to be able to buy a massive chunk of the company so that they'll actually listen to you or anything (unless you and some others on this forum are multi-millionaires or something and plan to purchase a controlling stake in the company, in which case you will be Ubisoft and the rest of us get to hate you instead). Public companies exist, ultimately, to maximise returns to their shareholders. It's pretty clear to everyone except those deluding themselves, these days, that PC-gaming is not the revenue-raiser than the console-gaming market is. We just need to write-off Ubi forever, as far as PC-gaming is concerned, and start hoping other publishers will develop some tactical PC-centric shooters, like back in the good old days where it all began... I'm not trying to bag anyone here, just pointing out that unfortunately, your idea isn't going to get us anywhere. Don't give Ubisoft any more of your hard-earned money than you already have!
  4. Yeah, just didn't want to come across as spamming the community to make sure MY questions get answered. Because MY questions must be the most important, right?? .... Thanks everyone for the feedback, it's been very helpful. I might wait and see what pans out with news of the editor, and future patches with more [GR] maps.
  5. I seriously can not believe this.... well, I guess I can, it's Ubi, but this is just so disappointing. I've been a lurker here a long time, and I've always felt that the interaction between Grin and the gamers here has been one of the last tangible signs that developers actually care about PC gamers. No way this decision will get reversed though - Ubi runs by the law of $$ alone (not surprising, being a public company), so they've obviously got their own greedy and shortsighted reasons for doing this. What was that rumour about "4 weeks only for a patch", too? As in, there's only going to be one patch and that's it? If that means there is not going to be any more than 3 official [GR] maps, then there's no way I'm buying this game.
  6. Sure, good point... I'm in Australia, and the game is out at many major retailers (has been a coupla days), so hopefully one of them might have given it a go. Regardless, I'd really appreciate some feedback on these issues, as it will seriously affect whether or not I (and my friends) buy the game. I don't really give a rip about SP - 95% of my use of the game will be co-op MP, if I get it.
  7. Hi, I've posted this exact thread at the UBI forums, but I thought I'd ask here to because there seems to be a bit of an older/more mature crowd around here. Apologies if you read both forums. Would really appreciate some helpful answers to these issues though. My friends and I have traditionally got most of our mileage out of the GR/GRAW series in co-op mode, and whether or not we get GRAW 2 is going to depend a lot on a few areas related to co-op gameplay. I was wondering if some people who have the full game and have tried [GR] mode could answer these questions: - The most annoying thing about co-op gameplay in GRAW was that most of the action was over in about 10 minutes, and you had to spend a further 45 frustrating minutes running around and cleaning up stray tangoes. This problem was alleviated in the original GR because you had the threat indicator, but of course this doesn't exist in the GRAW series. Has this aspect of [GR] been improved upon in GRAW 2? - Are the [GR] maps in GRAW 2 an appropriate size for, say, 3-4 players? Part of the problem with GRAW was that the maps were simply too big to clean up with just a few players. Furthermore, when you died, you'd spend ages running back from your respawn point to rejoin the team. - For interest's sake, is the drone available for use in [GR] mode in GRAW 2? I may think of more questions, but they were the most pressing ones off the top of my head. TIA.
