This mission is built from the ground up using a clean version of the mission 08 landscape. As in my last mission the car bombs (IED's) are various dynamic vehicles plus they are now random so you won't know which vehicle is armed so it will vary each time you play. You can now destroy the IED's with grenades or GL plus the usual C4. A few of you have asked if I was still making missions, I mentioned in my last beta thread that every new mission will now include at least two scratch built custom buildings, as these are made in 3ds max this is quite a time consuming process so it will take much longer to get my missions to the beta stage. So with that in mind there are two custom made buildings in this map. The first is a re-make of the industrial guard tower, for this version I have added another floor plus you now have access to the roof which will be useful as a good sniping position, I have used this building for two objectives in the mission so you will be able to take a closer look. The second new building is a re-make of the industrial hanger, for this version I have added an extra floor. Download (Latest version is v1.1) Operation Condor v1.1. candy76041820 Posted December 13, 2011 Share Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Wow, a new map! Bug: The map don't work. The image doesn't move itself synchronously with Mitchell. I'm a bit shocked by how frequent the triggers are fired one after another. There's almost one trigger fired with every two steps! Strange your minimap isn't working as I'm having no problems here, might have been a server glitch but I will take a look. There are a lot more triggers in this map (64 in total) but each one spawns less AI than normal, I did this to try and reduce the lag. daro48 Posted December 14, 2011 Share Posted December 14, 2011 Hi John, I just finished the lonely test on hard level, and I think the map is just great, same as new buildings which you created I found few things, but this are small map issues: 1- the water tank on Antenna objective, is in the wall you can see it through the wall from inside of the building, 2- IMHO the WMD trigger is too late, maybe you can put the location a little further from the buildning? I think I need to make the walls on my buildings a bit thicker, I had this problem when I placed some props inside the building, I could see them from the outside so I had to place them a fraction in from the wall, I didn't notice the gas tank was showing on the inside, I'll get it moved for the next version. I did wonder if the WMD trigger was a bit late but when testing I didn't see any hot spawning but I will move it back a bit. I love the new 4 story building and the fact that it has windows on the main level which allow the AI to try and flank you. I tried the mission in single player on Easy and experienced no lag whatsoever. Everything played smooth and I didn't see any stuck AI. The AI were very aggressive. The only thing that I saw that might deserve comment was at the initial spawn. As you move down the road you have placed a new building on the Right hand side. The building is placed so low in the ground that the window is actually even with the road and I was able to lay down and crawl into the building. Is this what you intended? It's a cool way to get into the building and I had fun doing it but it did seem a little strange. I have never seen a window that size at ground level of a main floor before. Puck Posted December 18, 2011 Share Posted December 18, 2011 John, Myself and two others from my group played this map last night. Enjoyed it a lot and did not see any real technical issues. We loved the new buildings and that some were placed back to back allowing you to see and shoot into the other rooms. At the very end the extraction helicopter comes in way before it is clear. The last group that spawned in were right under the copter. We felt it should come in after the area is clear. We will play it through again, better to notice issues after several passes. AI insertion is very smart and all are very aggressive. GREAT This is one of the maps when we realize a new trigger comes up the you hear from one of us "caution - trigger" and we go backwards for a couple meters and see that we are covered. That's the way it should be! We played hard as usual (2 players). One or two things we need to tell. 1. It took us 20 minutes to realize that we need to place the C4 at the left of the gate doors instead on the middle of the gate doors (as usual?). Rahn, lol I see you found the secret entrance to my building , there are two reasons for this, one is as has been mentioned below and that is the ground there is so uneven I had to lower the building so it would touch the ground at the front leaving the side windows very low. Second reason is that I didn't add a lower wall to the building so it will extend downward below ground level, doing this will allow me to place the building higher, as I'm still learning this modelling lark these issues always come up in testing but all my new buildings will have the lower walls and ramps at all the entrances, that way I can raise them up if needed. Puck, my intentions with the blackhawk was to have it fly in as the last patrol spawned, I thought it would look cool to see the gunners mow down a few AI but as it turned out the blackhawk is causing problems on a dedicated server (see below). Kaapo, the hole you got stuck in is part of the landscape, these can be a problem if you do go in them so I don't know why they were made so deep, watch your step. When you get near any fences or doors you should see a marker on screen saying "Plant C4" this will help you to find where to place it, if you don't see them then let me know. Tell Erika that I will include a sandpit in my next mission just for her so she can lay on the sun lounger and make sand castles. I was hoping you would test this mission kaapo, you always use a dedicated server so this will show up any issues that you don't see on a normal server. The crash you had is related to the blackhawk bug, I only use a LAN server so it worked fine for me but it can cause problems on a dedicated, I hoped I had the blackhawk hovering high enough so it wouldn't cause problems but as usual the bugs in this game are very unpredictable, I think the best solution is to remove it completely, it's a shame but it's not worth having it in the game. If you all don't like the car bombs I can leave them out of my future missions, I thought they added a bit of tension to the game play but if they are just causing frustration then it's not adding anything to the game. Pleased you all like the new buildings, my next mission is progressing fairly well and will include two more brand new buildings one of which is a 9 story office block which I hope will promote some CQB. On this map I got killed 2 times by the bomb cars- first time near antenna- when i got flanked and 2nd time near WMD when i got closer to hemtt and this 2nd time was surprising, i'm still not sure if this was car bomb or someone shot me with RPG lol But still I think the car bombs are the good idea to use them on the map Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They just need to know the reason in advance, or? If the most Ghosts like the car bombs, we are good as well. After 100 maps/missions most of the time we do not remember the car bombs and we are wondering where the RPG came from Greetings from Erika, she can't wait for the sandpit! After killing a few AI at the extraction, when the chopper arrives, the game crashes. Got any idea why that is? There is also a bomb crater in one of the streets where you don't wanna jump in for cover, because you can only get out of it with a special trick. As for me the map is fun and challenging because the AI are agressive and triggered rapidly one after another. The new buildings are also made very good and it is indeed fun to "sneak" in and out the lower windows. The only thing I'm curious about is the crash at the extraction. Anyway, thx for the new map. Looks like you had the same problem as kaapo, the crash at extraction is caused by the blackhawk, this is a known issue with some maps. For some reason you can use it in one mission without any problems provided it doesn't land but on other missions it will crash the game no matter what you do, I hoped it would work here but it seems I'm wrong. I'll get a new version posted here in the next day or so without the blackhawk so you can test it again if you wish to make sure it was the problem. All went fine and I reached extraction without the game crashing. The message came up that the ghost had won, so I ran towards the chopper which hadn't landed yet.... and then I got shot !!! I mean, can you believe this?! Now I don't know if it'll crash if the chopper lands unless I play the map again About the bomb crater I mentioned before; it was 10 steps SE from the building with the antenna. It's in the middle of the street. If someone runs in there, he won't get out LOL. The new buildings are great, but empty. Maybe you could put some AI in it, because me and the guys that played with me kept thinking that we might find some AI in those builidings. Just a few updates in this version but nothing major: The blackhawk at extraction has been removed so this should fix the crash problems some had when playing on a dedicated server. I have added a false floor to the large crater where some of you were getting stuck so this shouldn't happen again. One of the gas tanks that was showing through the wall at the antenna objective has been moved. That's about it, I don't think there is any need to test the mission again unless you were having the crash problems at extraction, it would be useful to know if that problem has been fixed. Played just now (on easy mode), and no major bug found yet. However, I got wasted due to the havoc. Can you seperate that bird's spawning event apart from the infantries? I was shot while switching to my FGM-145 ZEUS-MPAR. I was carrying many equipments at that point (including Rx4 w/ XL7, XM8 compact, M61 frags, FGM-145 and RPG-7s), so I felt most disappointed when everything turned red.
