  1. Great news! Congrats Grin and Ubi! :g_cheers:
  2. I wonder if we will see any "shiny" (gold) news this week.
  3. I think its like this: There are 4 Ghosts (we know their names) and if one gets killed he is gone for the rest of the game, unless you decide to reload the game to the last savepoint and play again, this time with a better strategy. Maybe on easy difficulty they get only "knocked out" and are not available for the rest of the current mission, but due to the rule "noone gets left behind" he is picked up and patched up and available for the next mission. I doubt thats the case because it sounds silly so I still think that even on easy they are dead and stay dead but obviously easy has less dangerous AI and they can´t hit as good as on hard for instance. Edit: Nevermind my post, I just read Colins post. I do find it odd that they have clones of the other 3 guys. No I´m kidding, its probably like I said, they are not really dead (like in SWAT4) and are just picked up after a mission is over and available for the next one.
  4. Yes prone is there, the OP made a small video clip at the I27 event and you can see him go prone there at one point.
  5. Some games are made with a HDR/Overbright look that can´t be even disabled. Blazing Angels is one of them and Need for Speed Most Wanted is another. Either people like it or they don´t and if they can´t get used to it they should not buy it. GRAW will have a demo, that will help in this regard. I also like the HDR in GRAW PC, one of the best I saw so far in any game. The only thing I might do is add a color profile for GRAW into the Nvidia color correction tab and increase the blue color channel somewhat and set digital vibrance to low. I photoshoped a GRAW picture to showcase these settings. The original GRAW picture: http://www.ghostrecon.com/uk/images/GRAW_PC_SP_26.jpg GRAW picture with a stronger blue channel and digital vibrance at low (which is basically around 15% more color saturation):
  6. I know what HDR is, trust me, but one part of HDR is Bloom and thats a post processing effect.
  7. Post effects (aka Post-processing effects) is HDR/Bloom, and since the screencap shows it at "low", I assume there will be a "medium, high, and off" setting as well.
  8. What's the point in playing a game on lowest settings? It's like having Glaucoma and going to a museum to see pictures of Van Gogh. It takes all the fun away. The point is to understand that better graphics come at cost. You can´t ask for super detailed textures AND low loadtimes, at least not unless you have the game stored on a ramdisk or something. Devs can optimize things only so much but in end they can´t do anything about slow HDDs. The only solution then is to switch to a streaming engine but engines like that are normally memory hungry and can have LOD issues. So you see, there is always a compromise that has to be taken, both from the devs AND the user who has to tweak and balance the game to the hardware and visual preference or like I said lower the visuals if s/he wants lower loadtimes.
  9. A few minor details but impressive details that I noticed. 1. The running and jump animations are looking live-like and I really like how that Ghost m8 infront of you is checking the chute right before jumping 2. The ramp vibrates a little. 3. The sky is nicely clean and blue at high attitude but once on the ground you can see the dirty smogy yellowish air of Mexico City. It´s a very smooth transition as well. 4. You can see at least one other Ghost freefalling. 5. Right after the chute is pulled and the legs swing up, you can see the greenish belts from the parachute around the legs and belly.
  10. GRAW might have a streaming engine, similar like in GTA-SA for instance. Oblivion has also a streaming engine, but for addional details its devided into cells. I wonder if we will be able to adjust the LOD, for instance the building shadow LOD which for instance doesn´t appear in the HALO drop video until 1:14 right after the chute is opened. I know todays computers and video cards might not handle this, but being able to adjust it further (thru ini or cfg files) would be awesome because future computers in 2-3 years might handle it.
  11. Use the lowest texture detail setting and I´m sure even BF2 will load faster.
  12. Holy ######, that was amazing! Thank you Jakup and WK!
  13. Awesome! And I thought I jinxed myself for laughing at the author.
  14. No doesn´t work even if I open the mms link manually in WMP. mms://futurenet.wmod.llnwd.net/a356/o2/gamesradar/videos/us/graw_halodrop_pc320_4x3_700.wmv Says the server isn´t responding.
  15. That is the coolest thing I have seen... ← Cr4p...........it's not working here. ← Not working here either. Can somone host it elsewhere? PLease! TIA!
  16. Totally agree. I´m a huge R6 fan myself. Must have been a diehard Lockdown fan who wrote this preview. It´s funny how a sentence or two can mess up an otherwise very positive preview.
  17. I don´t know, that review is pretty messed up at parts. I´m not saying the game will be perfect for everyone and won´t have any shortcomings but to mention this game and Lockdown in the same sentence and say in the next sentence that its not an arcardey shooter is pretty hilarious.
  18. I think its normal particle smoke, generated by the video card. Maybe someone who was at the LAN knows better? I thought it was a big LAN, someone from gr.net must have been there.
  19. No, it doesn´t have 512MB vram. You "might" get away with it if you have at least 2GB system ram and a 256MB vram card but thats just speculation from my side.
  20. Can anyone host this video on a server that allows resuming? TIA! Edit: Nevermind, after the 100th attempt I finally managed to download the whole video.
  21. HDR. It looks hot, doesn´t it? Important part of the game and the idea of the "AW" in GRAW. I´m happy that we can at least turn off the diamonds and have no outlines. Just meant to illustrate the small LCD infront of your soldiers eye. I´m sure people will get used to it. They had the real guns in their hands and Ecotech sight is like that (minus the zoom, but thats a gameplay decision). You don´t like it, don´t mount the sight, mount a normal iron sight. Realistically speaking, yes the soldier is looking at a PDA like device, so yes the sound would be the same as in first person, however I could understand that this might be a limitation of the engine where the decision was either "no sound" or the "distant" sound. Honestly, when I first saw that scene, I actually prefered to hear the distant sound because I imagined to sit in the drone. Totally agree! I ran the clip over my big ass music sound system, and turned the sound up that the floor started to vibrate when the big explosions happened. I tell you it was INSANE, felt like I was in the middle of that mess! Desmond knows his ######! Agreed. Its a small tribute to the original GR, but I´m sure it will be moddable if you don´t like it after actually playing it. True dat. A nice balance of "Hollywood" and "reality". You do need some "Hollywood" effects, or the world might look bland and sterile. It´s the same like the argument about taking a car apart with a few bullets. Yes its not perfectly realistic, but it spices things up and makes them look interesting. Its a nice compromise between "hollywood" and "reality". To me it looked like the guys video card wasn´t using 16AF or the LOD slider wasn´t maxed out. After all they had to run fraps in the background. And even if thats not the case, show me a game with levels and details of that size without LOD taking place. I have hope that it will be possible to max out details even further for cards that will be released in a year. Having a game to look "nicer" as the time passes by is one of the great things of PC gaming. (LOD = Level of Detail) Not the retail version and fixable. You wouldn´t believe how much carbon fiber actually is in these modern rifles and these guns are painted to actaully take away any shine or metal look so that the enemy doesn´t see you from a distance. The silenced handgun has a shiny part that is suppose to be shiny because its a part of the barrel/slider. Yes I admit I´m a GRAW PC fanboy, but its my honest opinion as well. The problem with games, or movies, music or whatever else, people who make them will NEVER be able to make everyone 100% happy. I´m not saying that I find EVERYTHING perfect, I know I could nitpick myself about one or two things, but not only they are no gamebreakers to me, I´m confident they are moddable and last but not least I personally consider it a good choice to shut up about something what I haven´t played first myself. I´m not attacking you or anyone who is nitpicking or voices their opinions, you are all welcome to it, but do know how you would feel after working your ass off for MONTHS and finally finished the biggest part of the project to have people jumping on it who never even played it? I´m sure you wouldn´t be happy. Nothing personal, we live all in a free world and have the right for our opinions (thank god). Have a great holiday guys! Edit: Quoting doesn´t work, but the "italic" parts are Poitas points, mine are non-italic.
  22. Don't tell me you had any doubts! ← Me? No chance! I´ve been a GRIN/GRAW PC fanboy ever since I saw their commitment and dedication and ambition both with the game AND the community. I was just responding to =3dS=rOOk who might have misunderstood the 1up article.
  23. Meaning. Weapons used may be limited but are all relevent to the situation that the Ghosts face in Mexico. You would not take 60 different type of weapons when 6 or 10 will do the same job. The balance and customisation is just perfect. ← I was talking about the bold part, 'idiocy of the Ghosts' . Does they mean that friend AI was not so good? ← After a hands-on session with the first five single-player missions of their latest game, we think that the Ghosts deep, inherent stupidity may not be a single-player game killer anymore. Meaning: No more stupid AI like in the other versions.
  24. Bo, this is slightly off-topic but after a huge success of GRAW PC (yes I´m knocking on wood ), are you planning to licence your engine to other devs? Your engine seems to be very impressive and supports every "next-gen" feature. The only one I didn´t see in GRAW is motion blur but I´m sure with your skills (the whole GRIN team) you could add that one if you wanted to. It would be interesting to hear what you guys are planning for the future.
  25. A few things get answered by this new video that some people were worried about. -The recoil with the MR-C in full auto and while standing is quite obvious and realistic. -Granates can be thrown at least approx. 30 meters.
