for those that have been following news of Atomic Games new FPS "Breach" in our forums here

in a bizarre twist a Thief has tried to steal the game code at PAX

May had been seeing hanging around Atomic Games booth prior to the attempted theft, Tractenberg said. And he made his move when the person watching the booth's laptop left to use the bathroom. An observant QA tester spotted May standing over the company's equipment with a laptop and a cable running between the two.

When the employee confronted May, Tractenberg said, May asked to turn off his laptop and then instead unplugged the cord and ran for it.

Two employees gave chase, with one slipping around to cut May off before he could make it to the escalator.

When confronted, May gave up without a struggle.

After being advised of his rights, May told police that he had downloaded part of a game by Atomic Games and then had tried to run from the scene.

Tractenberg told Kotaku that he was in the middle of a video taped interview with Atomic Games president Peter Tamte when he saw May run behind the camera crew with a laptop in hand and two quality assurance testers chasing him.

another news item on this "Master criminal" from earlier in the day at PAX ;)

Stephen Toulouse, director of policy and enforcement for Xbox Live, actually had an incident with May earlier in the day during his panel "Enforcement on Xbox Live: Tales from the Din Part 2"

During the Q&A section of the panel, the alleged thief asked if he could have his Gamertag unbanned.

Toulouse asked him what he'd done, and he said that he'd played Forza 3 before release, which Toulouse told him he shouldn't have done.

Toulouse was clear to point out during the panel that buying games early, from a retailer that breaks street date, and playing them online doesn't get Xbox Live players banned,

but illegal pre-release play does.

The suspect later admitted to Joystiq he illegally downloaded Forza 3 early.

D'oh

May's current whereabouts are unknown, but we do have his Gamertag, which shows that wherever he is at the moment, he's playing Modern Warfare 2

but seriously

An employee of the publisher told police that the game, Breach, was likely worth more than $6 million dollars.

But contacted Monday for comment, Atomic Games spokesman David Tractenberg said the exact value of the game is unknown.

"We know it's in the millions," he said.

In the future, Tractenberg said, the company is going to make sure they always have someone watching their equipment.

Umm... Horse + Stable/Barn door.... guys

>_< this could have turned out very badly for the game and the devs (imagine if it had resulted in a big delay or even possibly cancellation of the game)

I wonder how many similar things have happened before to devs of other games at shows

What sort of guy does that? Tries to steal a game from under the developers nose, and not like just lifting a game box off the table, by hooking up a laptop to the game machine! What sort of guy does that, does he look and talk like a normal joe, or is he a total geek?

Don't you just wonder?

WONDER NO MORE!!!! HERE HE IS!!!! FOR REAL!!! lLOL.
