Pave Low
Those of you that can remember this gameare in for a treat Under development by Bohemia Interactive (Operation Flashpoint, ArmA Armed Assault, ArmA 2) and Black Element Software (Shade: Wrath of Angels, Alpha Prime, ArmA Queen's Gambit), Carrier Command: Gaea Mission will be unleashed on PC and Next Gen Consoles. Estimated release date: Spring 2010. The 1988 classic Carrier Command is reborn with a story based on the upcoming second book of the Gaea Universe trilogy. The game€™s story centers on a crew waking from a thirty-year hibernation in the middle of a war raging from Earth to humanity's first colony in another solar system. Carrier Command: Gaea Mission is fully licensed and endorsed by the original creators of Carrier Command. HISTORY In 2008, the original Carrier Command celebrates its 20th Anniversary. Many long-time gamers already know and love the game, but the Gaea Universe will thrust it into the spotlight once more. Here you can reflect on days past, when a flickery monitor and a dodgy 5.25" disk were the best friends a gamer could have. And for those who are new to the Carrier Command experience, witness the impact it had upon release - one which Carrier Command: Gaea Mission is set to replicate. OVERVIEW You are the commander of a near-future aircraft carrier of immense power, with many tools and vehicles at your disposal. Landing in an unfamiliar, free-roaming environment, exploration will be key and the thrill of discovery will spur you onward. The colony planetoid of Taurus is a pivotal battleground in the United Earth Coalition (UEC)'s long campaign against the rogue Asian Pacific Alliance (APA), who gained dominion over Earth in an apocalyptic conflict. The wide oceans of Taurus are dotted with resource-rich islands of varying composition and hiding many secrets. Battle Over Air, Land and Sea Exciting first-person action and true strategic play combine to deliver a complete experience like no other. Fight For Control Of Taurus Traverse the seas to establish a network of island bases for defense, mining and manufacturing. Keep a steady supply of resources to push your campaign forward. Think Fast Every island is a new battleground requiring new tactics. Disrupt your enemy's supply lines at their weakest points, but be careful not to leave your own logistics network vulnerable to attack. Expand Your Capabilities Explore freely and complete dynamic missions to find new technology and weapons, until you are strong enough to defeat the enemy carrier. Carrier Command: Gaea Mission reinvents the classic gameplay of the original Carrier Command to deliver a truly next-gen experience. Players will be treated to an immersive journey, with an engaging story adapted from the second book of the Gaea Universe trilogy, slated for publication in 2009. :: VEHICLES WALRUS The WALRUS (Water And Land Roving Utility Shuttle) is a six-wheeled amphibious beast. Heavily armored and packing a punch, they are perfect for ground or sea assaults. The most versatile of your vehicles, they can deploy droids and construction pods from their cargo bays onto an island. MANTA The MANTA (Multi-role Aircraft for Nautical Tactical Assault) is an aerial survey craft which has been adapted with weapons capabilities to assist in battle. Designed to enter hazardous zones for mining and exploration, they are hardy and highly maneuverable. While their primary purpose is for reconnaissance and expanding your telemetry network, their new role of combat strike vehicle has been a wild success. CARRIER A C-class Survey Vessel, codenamed Green Dragon. This carrier was originally seized by the Gaea crew on planet M38 and rebuilt on Taurus. As such, it lacks several upgrades which the enemy has available. These advanced technologies can be discovered and adapted during the game. The carrier acts as a mobile command base, launching autonomous aircraft, amphibious vehicles, and unmanned drones. It also possesses its own formidable array of weaponry. DROIDS Human troops are limited on the colony planet, but these squads of recyclable Droids can be manufactured quickly. Each Droid has a limited internal power core which drains both over time and for every shot of their hardwired weapons. During attacks, a balance must be struck between impact and longevity. Each squad of 8 Droids deposited by a Walrus consists of basic Assault units, Snipers, Heavy Weapons and Command Droids, which carry the control virus to hijack an enemy€™s Command Centre. :: WEAPONS PLASMA CANNON This heavy-duty, dual-barrelled cannon fires superheated globs of liquid metal which wreak immense damage to any target. APOLLO MISSILES A battery of mid-range missiles with weak homing capability. Can be fired in quick succession. GATLING GUN Fires high-velocity rounds at a rapid rate, literally a metallic storm. CRUISE MISSILE A single-shot missile of incredible destructive power. Only one can be stocked by the carrier at any time. DEFENSE DRONES Automated aerial drones which hover in formation to protect the carrier. They will ram any enemy vehicles that enter their range, or block incoming missiles. krise madsen
I remember talking about how this game was ideal for a remake, which goes to show how brilliant I am, ahem... I was truly fascinated by the original. I was also possibly the worst player ever to try it. Respectfully krise madsen
Scruffy
Blimey BIS develop game thats not arma or ofp I'm shocked. Then you will get near a heart stroke if you read this I never played Carrier Command, that was a bit ahead of my time, but I will look into it a bit. It sounds like the first CTI mission that BIS packed into ArmA before Warfare. Just with islands and a sci-fi setting.
