  1. As we drove over the bridge at the start of the mission I watched carefully for the helicopter and this time it dropped out of the sky. Last time it must have hung there throughout my gameplay. As you suggested John I did the panel objective first, absolutely no problems and I have now moved on into the next mission of the campaign. Cheers Paul
  2. Thanks John I have tried several avenues of approach - both directional and stance - but no luck so far. I will keep trying. I might even replay the mission. I should add hanging in the sky is a burning helicopter. Don't know if this has anything to do with the problem or not. Many thanks Paul
  3. I think this a fantastic campaign and I am really enjoying Ghost recon after a long layoff. However in mission "combat dawn" I cannot destroy the control panel on roof. The distance indicator says 1m but I can't appraoch any closer and therfore cant plant any explosives. I have completed all other objectives but cannot go on to next mission. Is this a matter of where the character is position, I have tried to crouch and approach, but no luck! Cheers
  4. I've just seen both the screenshots, and the movie. Absolutely incredible work. It ranks with the best!
  5. The key question is, will GR2 genuinely be better than what we have now? Better graphics - fine, different story line - fine. Different types of gameplay - maybe fine?. But what make GR so special is the willingness of a large number of talented people to produce magnificent mods which extend the original game. Will this be possible with GR2 or will people like me be stuck with what comes out of the original box?
  6. They are, no doubt, confident that as there is an existing wide Ghostrecon PC base just waiting for GR2, we can wait longer. They will have calculated that concentrating firstly on XBox/PS2 will give them more total revenue in the longer term.
  7. At the risk of sparking an arguement, what are the views about AGP vs PCI? As a computer novice I am unsure which way to go for my next computer. Either go for a Dell with PCI based graphics card, or do what a knowledgable mate suggests - go for a custom job with AGP.
  8. I have finally solved the problem. On the colour setting on Desktop properties, by changing from True Colour (24bit) to High Colour (16bit) GR now runs like a dream. I must have changed the setting probaly when running a game for the children.
  9. I use Norton Antivirus 2003. I have unistalled GR and reinstalled GR along the lines suggested, with antivrus enabled and also when disabled. I have also reinstalled Windows 98. Sadly the problem is unimpressed by this and persists as an access violation.
  10. Re video card. I have had Ghostrecon working perfectly well with my setup which is centred around the Intel Chipset, until I had the "benign" virus. But I do think you have a point in that the access violation is probably related to the graphics.
  11. Thanks for the offer. It might be something quite simple. I append some info about my system and graphics. The fault occurs when starting Ghostrecon. There is no display of any part of the introduction to the game or any part of the game itself. All I get is that there is an "illegal action" by the Software and it is shut down. I had thought it was the graphics driver and I have reinstalled this following a check at the Intel site for any problems reported re Ghostrecon (there aren't). 12. I had a problem with some spyware "Winnet" which redirected my web searches and I removed it with SPYBOT. I also discovered a series of other "benign" viruses which were also removed. During this process my configuration became unstable, and I have had to restore from a backup. However, Ghostrecon which was working prior to all the difficulties will no longer work. I use Windows 98SE 733MGhz. I have unistalled Ghostrecon fully and reinstalled but to no avail. The IKE crash file is listed below. My current thought is to reinstall Windows operating system. Any advice welcome. GHOSTRECON caused an Access Violation in module GHOSTRECON.EXE at 017f:0045274f. Exception handler called in Main Thread. Error occurred at 11/29/2003 10:20:56.
