Introduction Desert Siege is the first mission pack for Ghost Recon, due for release around the end of March 2002. The original Ghost Recon is required to play, it is not a standalone game.

Content

Desert Siege comes with 8 new single player maps, 4 new multiplayer maps, and 9 new weapons. There are new vehicles used by the enemy, including pick-up trucks and jeeps - and new sounds to enhance the atmosphere.

The new weapons are :

• Groza: The Groza is a Russian bullpup assault rifle design. It fires a 9x39mm round at a cyclic rate of 700 rounds per minute. The variant we are using utilizes an underbarrel GP25 40mm grenade launcher.
• Bizon 9mm: The Bizon is a Russian submachine gun. It fires a 9x18mm Makarov round at a cyclic rate of 700 rounds per minute.
• AN-94: The AN-94 is a Russian assault rifle design, slated to replace the AK74. It fires the Russian 5.45 mm round. It has two different rates of fire, depending on the cyclic setting. The first is a 2-round burst mode that cycles at 1800 rounds per minute. In fully automatic mode, the rifle cycles at 600 rounds per minute.
• A-91: The A-91 is a Russian compact assault rifle design. It fires a 9x39mm round at a cyclic rate of 800 rounds per minute.
• M60: The M60 is an American machine gun. It fires a 7.62x51mm round at a cyclic rate of 600 rounds per minute.
• FN-FAL Para Variant: The FN-FAL is a Belgian assault rifle manufactured by Fabrique Nationale. The Para variant is a slightly shorter and lighter version of the assault rifle designed for use by paratroops. It fires a 7.62x51mm round at a cyclic rate of 600 rounds per minute.
• H&K PSG-1: The PSG-1 is a sniper rifle manufactured by Heckler and Koch. The rifle fires a 7.62x51mm round in semi-automatic mode only.
• Barrett M98: The Barrett M98 is an American rifle manufactured by Barrett. The rifle fires a 0.338 Lapua Magnum round only in semi-automatic mode.
• Specialist Weapon- Single Player (also available in Multiplayer)
  PKM: The PKM is Russian machine gun. It fires a 7.62x54mm round at a cyclic rate of 700 rounds per minute.
  

Two new multiplayer modes are included - "Siege" and "Domination" which involve taking control of and holding bases distributed across the map.

"The mission pack will see the elite members of the Ghost Recon outfit undertaking military operations in the war-torn lands of North Africa, where overt conflict has broken out between Ethiopia and Eritrea. With UN support under constant threat and attack, and key aid and supply ports closed, restoring order to the region rests in the hands of the ‘Ghosts’.
