UBI SOFT AND RED STORM ANNOUNCE TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON!

LOS ANGELES, CA– (May 17, 2001) E3 Booth #624 – In 1998 Red Storm Entertainment introduced the world to a top-secret counter-terrorist task force known as Team RAINBOW. In 2001, the world willmeet “The Ghosts”.

In Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon players are invited to lead this brand-new squad as they focus on covert military strikes and international peacekeeping missions that do not always go as planned. Conducting extensive missions on foot, the Ghosts occasionally have assistance from troops in tanks, helicopters and close airsupport. In many cases, they work with international military forces and NATO to fight against rising dictators and rebel groups. Be prepared to scope out the defenses of an enemy, blow up bridges to stop an advance, raid rebel bases, and rescue an American pilot who gets shot down deep in enemy territory.

The Ghosts are also the squad the Army uses when they need to push their latest andgreatest equipment and weaponry to the limit under fire. The squad has accessto the latest weapons such as an M-16 assault rifle with a grenade launcher mounted underneath. Or, squad members could be responsible for the M-136 Anti-Tank Rocket that they have to carry on their backs. Firepower this intense would knock a normal soldier off his feet in a second. For The Ghosts, it’s just another day, just another job.

Featuring brand new game and 3-D engines, Ghost Recon marks Red Storm’s return to the ‘Squad based tactical shooter’ genre for the first time since 1999’s Tom Clancy’s Rogue Spear. "We have a new engine, totally new characters, a new storyline, a new way of controlling the team," commented Red Storm's Chief Game Designer Brian Upton. "We think that even the most battle-hardened Rainbow Six veteran is going to be excited by where Ghost Recon is taking the tactical shooter genre."

Tom Clancy’s GhostRecon will be available from Ubi Soft® Entertainment on PC CD-ROM in Q42001.
