Hi there,

I'm trying to get familiar with 3dsm and I found it cool until I wanted to have stairs in my map! I tried everything : the pdf that comes with the game, JSTools...it does not work!

Maybe I can send someone my max file (200kb) and that someone may have a look at it . thanks for your help

thanks for the help

what version of max are you using?

just something to try. if you have built the stairs and then grouped them with your room. all you are missing is the shermanlevel stuff for it. and the easiest way i have found to do that is to merge them from the example map.

i also have a small "test" map that shows 2 rooms with stairs and shermanlevels and were to place them all. I would be happy to send it to you if it would help. i have version 5.0 of max. if you have a newer version you can open it. but if you have an older version it wont.

let me know.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks to all that replied. Sorry for late reply, but I did not have internet access for a couple of weeks. In the meanwhile I got a stairs tutorial from a friend of mine, it's the tutorial from Mike Schell from the platoon.It comes with an example of 2 rooms connected with stairs.I analyzed that thing from A to Z and finally I understood the mistery of stairs an shermans and transitions and so on. I also found out how to duplicate(and move) a single step of the stairs and now I should be able(with a bit more creativity) to make up a working map with almost everything that comes along.

Wish me luck, I'll let you in this forum when there's a final version of it.

:D
