NightCrawler 137
Why hasn't this been done yet?
XavierOnasis 0
Cause Jack'll win, with Mr.-I'm-Evil-And-Love-Mines Chavez a close second. It's a damn good idea. Be a pain in the neck to judge though.
Pyro_Monty 0
It was done. Duh! http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/comp-misions-01.htm http://www.ghostrecon.net/html/pcgamer_fil...-modpack-01.htm http://www.ghostrecon.net/news-archive-6-2002.htm
NightCrawler 137
No thats not good enough we need more. That was so long ago I'd forgotten. We need an ongoing mission competition. Edited September 1, 2003 by NightCrawler
Rocky 1,224
Heh, funny timing, but too late NC. tacticalgamers.com are running a GR mission competition, starting any day now. We ran one before, it's alot of work.
Syncopator 0
We ran one before, it's alot of work. Im sure I heard NC volunteering.
NightCrawler 137
Not like I'm gonna have lots of time, with me starting a new racing league, but if the need exists the so be it.
Pyro_Monty 0
The problem was, IIRC, that the majority of the missions didn't work. The judges ended up spending a lot of time trying to get each mission running or returning it back to the author for amendments. Like Rocky said... one helluva lot of work. connie lingus 0
Greetings! As someone who is not "in-the-know"(i.e. has a mole inside UBI), I'm expecting GR2 to be surprise announced any day now. The only thing that makes me not believe this, is the expansion pack for RvS. egobirchy 0
@ connie - .......'go on...' What leads you to believe this, can you offer any background information at all, or was it just a plain and simple premonition? Hope you are right!
Matt03 0
This is a good idea but some people want to make this to complictaed. The problem was, IIRC, that the majority of the missions didn't work. The judges ended up spending a lot of time trying to get each mission running or returning it back to the author for amendments. If it don't work once send it back give him a few days or a week to fix it and if it don't work the second time the person's mission gets a zero or whatever. Now I realize that sometimes somethings happens that the scripter can't see but everyone should get someone to test it out before they send it to the judges. Cause Jack'll win, with Mr.-I'm-Evil-And-Love-Mines Chavez a close second. Not so fast my friend. There are a lot of good mission scripters out there who have not come out with any missions yet. Namely me. I believe that I could give anyone a run for there money.
Stalker 0
hmm, maybe the judges can say: use map BLABLA with objectives BLUBLU and the best wins
Ruin 17
Yeah, the missions were screwy, I tried judging but my puter couldn't handle it... :'(
NightCrawler 137
Modders need to realize that bigger isn't always better. If I were to start something like this, the mods would have to be first of all of a size where dial up peeps could dl it with minimal hassle and time. If the mod didn't work on my PC then it would be disqualified and sent back. No second chances, they would have to bring in a new mod. I personally am tired of these huge mods that can't even be put up on most servers, thats basically why I started this thread.
magnumkp 0
I wouldn't mind judging, and the mods would have to use all the original skins/guns etc. Just a basic mission using map X (so they all have a level playing field). I wouldn't mind judging.
egobirchy 0
I'd be happy to contribute to judging as well, mainly from a playability/fun/functionality perspective.
