Kit icon editing problems

Recommended Posts

Okay, I open up the file. Just as an example, lets say I open up kit_tunney-03.rsb (the one with the SA80 and M9SD). I then open up kit_rifleman-04.rsb (the one with the M16 and extra ammo). I view all channels and select the alphan channel for editing and copy the extra ammo graphic and paste it over the M9SD graphic. I close kit_rifleman-04 without saving it and save my new Tunney kit as kit_tunney-05. After I click "save", it gives me some big, complicated dialoge box and I just go with whatever the default is. In game, the icons are blank white quares, even the SA80 graphic that I didn't touch. This happens any time I load up one of the icon .rsbs and attempt to save it.

Maybe I have a bad copy of the Photoshop plugin. (I don't have nay expansion packs yet). Do you know where to get a good one (i.e. one that has worked for you)?

before you save the file, do you hit flatten image? if not it will save the image in multiple layers. each time you paste into the image it creates a new layer so these have to be flattened to form one layer

cheers......

You may need the one from Island Thunder. I can't find a link though, sorry :(

I flatten the image. Otherwise it doesn't save as anything but .PSD. It still doesn't work.

do you edit the .gun file to make sure it is pointing to the new kit icon name, or do you use the original icon name

cheers......

I believe that it's the .kit file that poits to the icon, and yes, I do edit that. OTherwise it would just show the old image. Besides, even when I'm just editing one that already works, when I save it, it shows as blank white.

yup, my blue. i don't think that it would be the plug-in, generally they just won't open if it is. and apart from the one on the it disc i don't know where to get the new one from. it's very strange as you appear to be doing everything correct. if you open one of the new icons you saved, are the pics in there or are these white boxes aswell

cheers......

The weird thing is, that when I open one of the icons up in Photoshop, they shop up fine. It's just in the game, it acts like there is no .rsb file.

Do you think you can e-mail me the plugin from the Island Thunder disc?

those options look right too, same as when i have saved mine. have a look at this and see if it helps

cheers......

That tutorial is ancient. It talks about using the Rogue Spear plugin (which, by the way, I don't have) and Schell's converter.

Maybe it's cause I don't have the latest patch or something (I'm using 1.0.0.2). Oh well. I guess I was going to get the GOTY edition anyway...

That's cool that you got sorted out! But how about sharing the link that helped you in the end... there're bound to be other people with the same problem. :)

Unfortunately I don't remember the link. I do remember that I found it on Google, however. It shouldn't be that hard to get ahold of it.
