Supermoto 0
Hi, I have XP and have been playing GR for about 6 months, the first week i played i ran the game in 800x600 and it run ok a tad glitchy (only have 128 mb ram) so its expected but now when i play the game is realy glitchy even in the menu's! i thought it could be a virus be i cant find any (i use avg virus scanner) i also de-freged my machine and did a scan disk check yesterday but the game still runs very poor.A guy once told me its because i have to many progs on startup but i disabled most of them from starting up and even turned my virus checker off while i play GR but still runs very poor.If you read this and you use Xp can you tell me how many task you have running on your pc while you are just on desktop ( i have 18!!!) and 18 souns a hell of a lot to me!?? I wil try and atach a screen of my task maneger.Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thankyou GS-Supermoto

Specter 0
When you open task manager, the screen you are describing is the processes screen. You need to look at the Applications tab to see what's running. DO NOT mess around in the processes screen unless you know with what you are messing ! ! The only things in the process tab that you want to even mess with are the processes that have your username next to them. Messing with the system processes requires a knowledge of what you are messing with, or it can crash your system to the point where you have to reboot. Read this and post this info for us to look at. Also, go to Start, Run, and type in msconfig, and hit enter. Go to the startup tab on the far right. Uncheck everything. All these things are running and taking system resources, and they arent necessary to run when your PC starts ! ! But we need to know what kind of system you are running. Supermoto 0
Hi, Thankyou very muich for the reply's,thanks for the info on scvhost.exe, also when i open taskmanager (ctrl, alt&delete) i used to see a couple of tabs at the top of the box but err now i dont lol.I havent messed with the application apart from the virus scanner.I will uncheck all the startup progs and restart my system see if thet helps.Would more ram help? somebody told me Windows Xp should run on a minimum of 256 mb ram is this true? Thankyou Supermoto
Specter 0
RAM is a very big consideration with XP. XP will use about 147 MB on a default install with no tuning. GR uses 87 MB when it is at the menu screen before you even start playing. Print out the Tuning XP report. It goes through alot of stuff and how to tune the XP OS. Without knowing your system specs, its really hard to give you any definitive advice. Could you read my last post, click the underlined link for us, and post that info for us, so we can get you up and going again?
