GR.Net Banner?

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of building a Website for our Clan and would like to link the best Ghost Recon site (GR.NET) to it is there a "banner" or anything that people should use when doing this?

If you have no banners could I make a banner from the Graphics on the web page and maybe submit it for approval??

Thanks Brian

Edit: Never mind...Here's My Sign.... :stupid:

Just wondering but does GR.net advertise anywhere? if so where? just on agr-s and similar sites or does Rocky actually advertise anywhere else? ;)

Nah, we don't advertise as such. The link is in my sig on some other forums, and other sites link to us from their affiliate links, but we don't really advertise ourselves.

Why don't you? There's hundreds of people on these forums who have their own site and im sure they wouldn't mind attracting some more people to the forums by displaying your banner/advertisement on their site. ;) I would for one.

Have you got any banners or ad's anywhere? or just the little button links on the main page?

Traffic is good.

But not necessarily for the pocket...

For every user who surfs in from other sites there is a dollar bill on their head for the bandwidth they use (albeit tiny I'd imagine?)

Unless advertisers or sponsors were on a directly linked 'more viewers = more revenue' deal, Im sure Rocky's letterbox would need to be the size of the Clyde tunnel to handle the bills...with little in return.

We run an e-commerce site here (www.soundcontrol.co.uk -plug! ) which obviously has a tangible revenue source...hence we can advertsise and promote it - as more hits generally equals more income. With a community site like GR.net however, its aim isnt to make money. It is a community hub. There is nothing to gain from advertising the growth of such hubs - unless they are on paid for subs basis.

It's a delicate balancing act between sponsorships and some advertising against the bandwidth requirements on a monthly basis.

Perhaps I'm talkin complete bo***cks....

I dont mean advertise for money, just attract more members - the more the merrier.

And i also don't mean paid advertisements - i would display the gr.net banner/advertisement on my site for free, i dont expect anything in return for it. Im sure there's loads of people on these forums who would do the same.

ye buddy - I know thats what you meant..and I meant that the more members there are using the site - the more data is downloaded from the server...and the more data, the more mullah req'd to cover the bill!

ie. this site is community site - it doesnt sell anything, so more users simply means more expense. That's not to say more users is a bad thing! (of course its not) it just means that it kind of makes it a delicate balance between advertising it and becoming too large and expensive - to the point of collapse without additional financial input...and just allowing it to grow organically as it has done up until now.

I was just adding my 2cents - Im sure Rocky could give us a more accurate account of the financial realities of running such an operation as GR.net.

Either way - my point is - dont fix what aint broke...no real need to advertise and shout any louder than already being done.

Well i understand what you mean but we wont be attracting another 3000 members will we, so im sure his bandwidth and web space will be able to handle it. Anywayz, its Rockys gig so its up to him, have to ask him nicely to see if he'll give us some stats on the site.
