budgie 1
I see Arnold Schwarzenegger is running for Governor of California, but the local news station here said he could never run for the presidency as he was not born in America. Does this mean that there is some constitutional requirement that the president be born a US citizen or were they simply suggesting the voters would never accept a foreign born leader? RooK 0
Yes, the Constitution contains a requirement somewhere within, that to be able to run and hold the office of President, you have to have been born a US citizen. It has its good and bad points, but as most things with the constitution, it could probably be amended. In our politically correct times, it wouldn't surprise me if they would. Pyro_Monty 0
In our politically correct times, it wouldn't surprise me if they would. Heh, I find this funny. It's not really to do with political correctness... in fact it's the exact opposite - it's to do with picking the candidate best for the job. Only allowing American-born citizens to run for President is positive discrimination - one of the key actions of political correctness (in it's common state). Sorry, I'm not even trying to make a point... just thinking out loud.
Syncopator 0
It's not really to do with political correctness... in fact it's the exact opposite Yeah Pyro I know what you mean - but I think thats what Rook meant anyway... ie. The constitution is as such for very traditional/political reasons but may be changed in these days of 'political correctness' to allow for the best man for the job to be appointed - regardles of national citizinship. Think it's just how you interpret the concept of political correctness...but same point either way.

Maybe in time, but not now. Not just so Arny can run for president. There are still enough people who believe the constitution should be the unchanged law of the land. Although with 29 (i think ) amendments this could change. I personally wouldn't want to see this change. I think American's should run their own country... However, people like my father couldn't run for presidency. He's a full blodded American Citizen with an Austrian birth-certificate (Born on an Army base there). So he could never run... Zantar45 0
Still you gotta admit, it would be fun to say ''My president can beat up your president" You gotta remember though when they drew up the constitution, they were just getting done fighting the British and they wanted to create fair but equal laws for all citizens. The Constitution doesn't give Congress the authority to edit the Constitution as they see fit.
Major Maximum 0
what I would really like to see is Arnold the Pope...instead of being in the back of the pope-mobile, he pulls it with his teeth.
Zantar45 0
I wonder what his stance is on gun laws in California? *Does anyone else think on the last pic, it looks like Arnold is doped up or passing gas?
MarkVanDamme 0
Ah'll be back Sorry, had to be done Arnie is a legend!
RooK 0
Zantar, I've wondered the same thing as to the gun laws issue... He is running as a moderate Republican, but how moderate? Also, that last picture was, I think, from True Lies. If so, at that point in the movie he was drugged up on truth syrum. Pyro_Monty, you must have been reading my mind. Zantar45 0
I knew the pic was from True Lies but I mean, just look at the expression on his face..... I mean its funnier then the idea of him agreeing to play Mr.Freeze in a Batman movie......oh wait...... Anyone remember Demolition man with Stalone? (sorry for bringing back the pain Sly ) Where he found out that the people changed the law and Schwarzenegger was the president at one point? Exactly.
Ryan243 0
It's a good thing Arnold can't be president for so many reasons. Not the least of which is, can you imagine state of the union address by Ahnold? What a joke.

Yeah, they're both running, along with Gallagher. His platform consists of.. uhh... It's the Sledge-O-Matic, ladies and gentlemen! @Ruin - He's a full blodded American Citizen with an Austrian birth-certificate (Born on an Army base there) Err.. if your Father was born of American parents, then he's an American citizen. He could be born on the moon and he'd still be an American citizen.

But when he was in the USAF, he couldn't join a SPECOPS team because of his Austrian birth certificate (no it wasn't naything as thrilling as the paratroopers etc etc). As far as Gallagher, he's flipping hysterical. The sledge hammer is a funny touch tot he show.
