I'm looking for a large map, with some streams running thru, maybe a waterfall or two. Need some buildings partically bombed out or just worn down especially a old CHURCH which is very important to my concept. Some hut villages spread through out the map. Does anyone know if this exists in a map anywhere? Can NEone create this map for me? A day or night would be ok...if day..probably a rainy type semi foggy day. thanks..please let me know! You're asking quite a lot here and I think your wishlist is way to detailed. This is not something you will find easy right now (if not at all). Plus, there aren't that many custom maps to download anyway....at least if you compare it to the amount of skin- and weaponmods that are available. Making a map takes a lot of effort and a lot of time. Why don't you just use one of the IT-maps if that's the setting you like to see your mission in? You say that a church is very important in your conceptand that you need shattered buildings, so that links me to the "battlefield" map, but that one doesn't have a jungle-environment. Did you look at the download-section for custom maps? IMHO I think you need to scratch a couple of your wishes and construct a mission based on a certain map that already exists, instead of trying to construct a map for one missionconcept. Good luck. mot73 0 Posted August 11, 2003 Author Share Posted August 11, 2003 I'm pretty new to the modding thing.so my question simply was for people who have been around longer to kinda scratch their head to see if they recall a map similiar to what I'm looking for. To simply ask for a jungle map, wouldn't provide me that answer I was looking for hence the detailed request. I certainly realize that map making is a huge undertaking in resources and time and effort and wasn't trying to imply that someone should drop everything for my concept. I wasn't aware of the number of downloadable custom made maps..again..thats why I'm asking the questions here. thanks for the response tho..I"ll check out your suggestions in the downloads section and yes..IT has the style of map I'd like to use..just not the content I had in mind. But unfortunately, no one has ever taken them to the GR format. It would take a HUGE effort to do so. Most custom made maps have terrain with very few features. Thats why most mod maps are either 'snow' environments without trees, or 'desert' environments that also have almost no rocks, trees or grass. To do an authentic jungle environment would be VERY tough, indeed. Even Red Storm's own attempts have been rather pitiful in that one regard. Come to think of it, I remembered a map I checked out a couple of weeks ago. It's included in 10mm Auto's mappack. The map in question is called Jungle, South Bogota. It's a jungle-based map with lots of fog and a river that runs right across the map. It also features some buildings and a cave-system. You can get the mappack HERE and see for yourself if it's close to what you need. The terrain isn't completely scattered with trees but maybe if you contact 10mm Auto he might be kind enough to add a couple trees to your liking. Shouldn't be too hard for him to do that. BaMBaM 1 Posted August 12, 2003 Share Posted August 12, 2003 Sacre Blue!!!! And, Holy 'Raiders of the Lost Arc', Batman!! I'd had completely forgotten about these maps. They do look more 'dreamscape' than real, but they are definitley playable. The missions are ,however, in serious need of some quality mission scripting. As they are, its mostly just 'firefight' kinda stuff. My favorite map was the 'Sanagette' map. These maps do represent some great effort. But mostly they show just how poor the tools are that Red Storm decided to pass onto the modding community for making completely new maps.. With the proper terrain making tools, these guys would have made some great maps, I think. As they are, it would be fun to see some good missions made for them.
