Buffalo-6 0
In doing some research on the M4 and it's varients, I find that it is either single shot or 3 round burst. Why are all the M4's I find in mods single or full auto? Just curious is all.
Tollen 0
I think that the original M4 had 3 round bursts, but that the M4A1 are fitted with SA and FA..
Lancer 1
I believe the original M4's were single/burst or single/FA and the M4A1's were single/FA.

Marcinko 1
the m4 carbine is a semi/3 rnd burst. and the m4a1 is a semi/fa wep.
ReconSnake 0
Nope. The original M4 had some full-auto versions too.
dboy 0
M4 is fix-handle and 3rds burst M4A1 is flat-top and full-atuo look here http://mwilson.hypermart.net/views/guns/m16.html But Colt Model727 is fix-handle and full-auto. M727 is made for Navy, and in fact M4 is Colt Model M720
dboy 0
Now, Colt use new Numbering System. RO977 : Flat top, Safe/Semi/Full Auto RO979 : Flat top, Safe/Semi/Burst RO777 : Fixed handle, Safe/Semi/Full Auto RO779 : Fixed handle, Safe/Semi/Burst http://www.colt.com/mil/M4_2.asp
ReconSnake 0
My answer comes from my experience, not from the web. There were a limited number of M4's (not A1's) made in the early 1990's that were fielded full-auto or semi.
dboy 0
Oh, I never heard this. Maybe you right. But It's M727 or M720 ? The shape of M727 same with M720.
ReconSnake 0
IIRC the 720 was colt's moniker for the original that was trialed. As far as I can remember, the m4 full-auto basically was a m16 upper with the shortened barrel and collapsible stock while the burst m4 used the m16a2 upper originally. These were not large issue by any means - I think they were built for analysis/comparison.
