Got the game from a friend who couldn't wait to get rid of it. Cool is an understatement. It's just the original will your mod work (skins, weapons, vehicles) work with it or *must* I have Resistance?

You'll need Resistance to use my addon, as with most addons nowadays. This is due to scripting issues, and also to some model issues.

Is fast-roping an option in Resistance only?

Yes. There are some scripting commands that require later versions of the OFP engine.

I'm still working on my project also. I'm finishing up the Mp5 series of weapons, and I've gotten them in-game. I also finished a preliminary version of a CAR15 with an Aimpoint Comp M2 affixed. I still need to finish the SD weapons, the desert weapons, and remake my M240 ( I may drop the last task) as well as fix a few LOD issues with the soldier models. Then I'll pack it up and send out a beta.

Is that just characters or weapons as well?

Both. Resistance uses a portion of the config file called cfgmodels, which lets you specify various portions of the model. Pre-Resistance OFP can't process that section, and it'll crash. the CfgModels section is really useful. For example, all of my woodland soldiers use the same model. I added a variety of packs, grenades, and headwear to that model. Each section has a name, and, if you were to see them all together, it would look stupid. However, for each character class, I can specify which sections to hide. That way, my riflemen can have one set of webgear, machinegunners another, and officers another. Instead of having to build 15 different models, I can just use one and hide various parts.

The CFGModels section also lets me simulate the movement of a handgun's slide, or facilitate custom armpatches. Cool stuff.

50 bucks aint cheap for RAM... CHEAP is 512 for 20 (yes i actually saw this at the mall)

i got my 756 ram for about 50 bucks... gotta watch the prices... buying RAM is like being in the stock market

Well, whatever the issue is, it's improving each time I increase my disk cache size. I think I'm going to try to talk my wife into buying me a new HD next month, which I'll use as my main HD, and then I'll move all my stuff to the new one, so that I can work on this one and/or have it fixed for me.

At any rate, I just got permission last night to use a really great source of sound samples for my mod, so that's one more thing taken care of. :)

I'm still trying to get my PC sorted out. I've spent the last couple of days just tracking down hardware issues. It looks like my Athlon XP 1800 has died after only a month or two of use. Good thing I had this old Duron 950.

Anyway, I hope to have my addon for OFP ready for beta release by mid-September.

Sorry to hear that Para. I hope u'll fix it soon  ...

Me too! :P I think I've got my PC stable again, but I had to take out my XP1800+ to do it. :( So, after a whole lot of headache, it would appear that either my processor is shot, or my power supply is not putting out enough power to properly supply the Athlon processor.

I'm trying to get my soldiers addon ready for beta, but I've run into a snag. Apparently, I didn't back up the editable versions of my soldier models before the big crash, so now I'm stuck with the models I've got, which are not really presentable; some of the LOD's have bugs. My weapons addon is ready to go; I just have to tidy up the soldiers addon, and I'll be all set.

Ladies and gentlement, the time has arrived! I've released the beta versions of both addons! Please note that you will need to download the weapons addon in order to use the units addon.

1st Infantry Division Addon

Weapons Addon

Please read through the readme files, as they contain important information, and enjoy. Once you've downloaded and played them, please leave feedback in the Para-Armory forums.

Enjoy!

Very nice. I love the recon marksman although can you change it so that the black isn't there so you can see a little bit? The weapon models are superb and I really like the machine guns! Nice job. Now for some missions maybe? :) I could make my own but it's hard to make a good one.
