BlueRose_76 0
Anyone nows a good collection of all codecs? Tried hunderds, thousands of Codec-packs. There is ALWAYS trouble with a few movies that wont play properly. Any suggestions in my search for that ultimate Goldpack of Codecs? Thanks in advance, BlueRose_76
firefly2442 0
www.divx.com for the divx codec. As for a gigantic collection, whatever player you are using should find and download em for you. What are you using? Realplayer, Windows Media Player, Quicktime......
Sgt. Slaughter 0
Any suggestions in my search for that ultimate Goldpack of Codecs? Don't know if this is the ultimate Goldpack or not, but i suggest you go here: http://doa2.host.sk/ , and grab the K-Lite codec pack. Should play just about any movie under the sun, hopefully. Specter 0
I have a great program called GSpot21 that identifies movies and the specific codec needed to play them. Just open the movie with it, and it gives you all info on the movie or clip. You can google for it, or if you like, get in touch with me and ill get it to you. its freeware. Its indispensable if you watch alot of movies and vid on your pc or even do alot of vid editing. I collect alot of anime, so I use it all the time.
BlueRose_76 0
Thanks for replies @ firefly: My visits at DivX.com are almost often than my visits here. The bundles over there are not fully complete. I try to use Mediaplayer as standard because of its ability to handle most of the files. @ Slaughter: I also tried the K-lite codecpack, also here its not complete. @ Soto: Im gonna try that. Id used such a program times ago. Problem remains; when you know the specific codec where do you get it get it. As a heavy user in movies i get so friking tired of the 'not being a standard-situation' in avi files. I know every video editor for avi uses its own compressor. And that there are actually two decoms needed for the image and sound. In most cases i can get audio without any visual. Its so annoying when your Mediaplayer is connecting to the internet saying 'looking for the right decompressor' because than you know youre stuck. I also read you can have just installed 1 bundle at the time. Do you guys mix them up? Gonna try that GSpot21 (hmmm) . Thanks again, BlueRose_76 Edited July 31, 2003 by BlueRose_76
Specter 0
If I get an avi that the codec isnt installed for, I just google for it, and DL that codec. I dont install entire codec packs, as you only usually end up using just one from the pack. So I ID the codec with Gspot21, then Google for it, and install that codec, and just do it that way as I need them. Then I store just those codecs in a folder, so that if I ever have to FFR, I have just the ones I need, ready to go back in.
BlueRose_76 0
Okee, that sounds good to me. Is there a specific folder you need to place the seperate codecs in? Thanks, BR_76
Specter 0
When storing them for later use, I just store them in a download folder called Codecs. When installing them, I just let them go to the default location.
Stinger 0
gspot is what I live by. Hours of trouble and crap b4 I had it then after I got it things were easy. If u have trouble with sound ever make sure to have the AC3 sound codec (gave me lots o' trouble b4 gspot and its really common).

Rocky 1,224
gspot rules The only thing is sometimes it tells me a codec is not installed, when it is and the movie plays fine, but the main question I have is this... The status : xxxxxxx bit is a button, but if I click that button nothing happens - is it the same for you guys?
