Chef-Scott 0
Well I asked this on the UBI GR forum and it got edited and locked... There is a program at http://www.farstone.com called GameDrive. Does anyone here use this with GR/IT/DS?? Is it worth shelling out the $20 (us) for this? I use a lot of different CDs while in front of my computer, and anything to save me time (and that works!) and keep me from constantly opening and closing jewel cases all the time, I'm all for it! Dannik 43
For the record, the reason it was altered at UbiSoft is that this sort of technology, no matter how legitimate, can be used to pirate software, and as such, it's Ubi's policy to be overcautious. Don't blame the moderators there. They are volunteers, and have to do what Ubi policy dictates.
Specter 0
As long as it isnt a hack or a cheat like a [Thing that should not be spoken of here] , we dont have a problem with it. What you speak of is a legal retail program. Personally, I dont know of it, but it sounds like it's just another virtual CD drive, allowing you to run CD's from your HDD. If you arent short on Drive Space, I dont see a problem with it at all. Anything we can do to help, let us know bro. The only things that will get your posts locked here, are talk of Warez, [Thing that should not be spoken of here] , and pirated software. As well as argumentative or disruptive posts. Thats what makes this site so great. We have a great group of people here, always willing to help. Welcome to GR.net ! !

Na, I don't blame them at all. Just that it is really amusing to me that in close to two decades of being online (BBS's in the early 80s and since 1992 the internet), this is the first time any post I have made anywhere has ever been edited/locked/deleted or anything like that. phantom110565 wrote: Personally, I dont know of it, but it sounds like it's just another virtual CD drive, allowing you to run CD's from your HDD. Well then I'll be the test subject and let you all know how well it does or does not work. And thanks for the welcome to GR.net!
Cpl Ledanek 247
i got that gamedrive...its ok...but not really needed "in my case"...it opened my Medal of Honor faster, loads faster....nothing noticeable with GR. Plus its a hassle when you keep changing/adding mods/patches...like me...speaking for myself...for $19 i guess its not bad... original intention of purchase was that I can load my PLAY CD to my secon PC for LAN gaming, while using game drive for the server....WRONG!!! i didnt know you can set up the SERVER (1st PC), then take out the PLAY CD, insert to 2nd PC then Play... So "in my case" I wasted $19 for GR playtime, BUT a win for Medal of Honor... Hope that helps... Keep asking around first before you buy...which I should had done in the first place....good luck
Specter 0
The other thing to remember is this. One, the only thing you need the game disc for one it's installed, is for verification of a legal copy. The game doesnt run from the CD, it runs entirely from the HDD already, so that pogram isnt even necessary in the world of R6 and GR games. Two, there are alot of servers out there that run anti-cheat initiatives, such as Kidbuster, and that could possibly deny you access to those servers.
