I know we haven't had much new material to show lately so I figured its time we dug into the vault and showed something old but previously not released. :o

I'f you are lucky while playing the missions you just might come across this character, aptly named Thumper ;) , as one of your regular riflemen. He'll be armed with either the G36 (K and C models) or the HK53

Or you might be equally lucky and get this character, named Tollen ;) , as one of your regular marksmen (replaces the sniper among your regular 4 characters). He'll be armed with the AK4 (HK G3) in 3 different versions.

Missions are still in a work in progress.

And, yes, it is possible to draw a set of operators from the pool with "unique" characteristics. ;) Snow truly did some amazing work on those special characters.

The changes to the regular specialists into Swedish operatives is very well done. Each will make it hard for you to choose who you want on your missions with you.

The British Infantry mod uses weapons made by Chems, and he has two versions: an L96 with and without ghillie camo. SWEBAT will feature a similar weapon (PSG90), also based on the AIAW, but with a different scope, fixed stock, and also with and without ghillie netting over the barrel. They are not the same weapons. The differences between the two are small.

@Chems: I am not diss'ing your models, just clarifying that each of us has made similar weap models for our own mods.

If you are VERY lucky you can end up with 4 special characters in your roster, the 2 displayed above are the Rifleman and Marksman characters, there are also a support specialist (Lancer) and one demolitions specialist (guess who :P )

Lancer is currently re-working the skin for his character and mine hasn't even been started yet. <_<

But as I said, you have to be very lucky indeed, it's pretty rare for even one of them to show up.

I've been doing some research into the NH90 bird and it seems that it acctually is a completely different helicopter than the Merlin. We are also struggling to find good enough pictures of the NH90 to model it so its put on hold for the time being. It will be replaced by an older Swedish helicopter though, the Hkp11 (Agusta Bell 412 HP).

LOL...I think I have heared that before somewhere mate.

And totally forgot to mention the character for our 5th member, Mamon. Unfortunately the 4 spots on the regular roster got filled before Mamon even joined the team so we have had to accomodate him in other ways. Expect to meet mamon's character throughout the campaign and expect to be on the recieving end of some 7.62mm bullets every time you come across him :o=

We're not mad at Mamon, he "volunteered" as the saying goes. Don't think tagging him will be a walk in the park, either. He's always wanted to be a genocidal maniac, or a criminal mastermind, or a Russian General, or an.....

enemy SWEBAT operative! :o=

He might even be ..... a Conquistador!

We think of him more like Don Quixote, but there are no windmills on our maps worthy of a joust. :sheep:

No enojas conmigo, amigo. Solo es un chiste.

Yeah the L96 was streingers and I added the guille, thats a nice L96 indeed, I have that texture too. You didnt decide to model the butt rest then??

I have a £ view of the merlin if you want it, the HC3 UK version. And you dont always need great pictures for vcl modeling just very good minds eye of what it should look like, and if it clicks when you look at it.

Yeah NH90 is slightly larger than to a black hawk and much more maneuverable- can barrell roll the thing- for a chopper that big it moves well- same company that make the Tiger attack helo is making the NH90- will have a look for some info for you Snow. Again one of those things I wish I could have a time machine for and go back in time with a digi camera and get you all the pics you ever needed....

Cheers Gordo

@ Chems: guess there is one main reason he didn't model the butt rest and that's because it doesn't excist on the swedish PSG90 sniper rifle (not really an L96 mate)

And I did do quite abit of handpainting to fix up the texture for the CV9040C, although I had some great help from some digital photos supplied by Tollen.

Bout the NH90, there were 2 main reasons why we put it on the backburner for now, first of all we didn't have good enough picture material of it at the time and secondly the bird is still only in prototype stage. Sweden is sceduled to get the first bird delivered in 2005 and will be fully operational within the army aviation around 2008, this doesn't fit the timeline of our mod as its set in 2005.

I've just started our second groundbased vehicle, Mercedes Benz 290 GD, put about 2 hours into building the basemodel today and its coming along nicely. Still alot of work left to do on it though.

Diffrent method to me, I model the vcl till I think its perfect, then I screen shot it from each angel crop it down in PS then paint it, kinda like Chems Deep Paint I suppose. This way I get perfect mapping everytime and dont have to look for photos for the textures, and also hand made from scratch textures look better than photo I think. Check the RSB in the Brit mod and see what I mean, there not pretty to look at but look good in game.

And my method is quicker :P
