That's a ballistic's table with some basic facts and figures designed to help the shooter. Don't know why really, because the sniper have to learn all this by heart anyway, but It's swedish...

Here, we call it a range card. You setup your rifle, and you write down how many clicks to adjust your scope at various range intervals.

a range card is actually

a card to show where u r shooting at

what area youre shooting at

so if you should die someone else can take your spot

and know what area to cover

and u can anitate trees, bushes, mounds of grass or dirt

or even houses and churches if need be.

and yes it usaully has all the rifle specs on it

so it can be pvt. proof

those of u in the U.S. Military will know

what i mean by pvt. proof

Looking great as always Thumper! Hope I can get the redone AK5 C models to look equally good.

And can't wait to see those MG's mate!

And this might be alittle OT but its still concerning the swedish armed forces so...

There is a world of difference between Swedens' armed forces and the US armed forces for example. The main difference being the way soldiers get recruited into service. In Sweden we still have general conscription, in oposite to professional armed forces like the US. Ofcource we do have a few professionals, mostly training officers and such. Once you turn 18 in Sweden you get called to appear at one of several drafting centres where they put you through a series of different tests in order to find out if you are suitable for service, and in case you are, what specific branch and duties that would suit you. All 3 branches (Army, Royal Navy and Airforce) recruit through the same centres, even through the same recruiting officer. So you never know what branch you will end up in although you often do get a choice between a few different duties in different branches.

The difference doesn't end there though, you can get drafted as anything from private to platoon leader! Ofcource the length of service differs depending on if you get drafted as private compared to platoon leader but it doesn't differ by much, private's do 7.5 months of training compared to a platoon leaders 15 months.

Take me as an example:

Vitually the day that I turned 18 I got the call to show up for my draft, completing it with medium to high results in all categories. Once infront of the drafting officer he gave me 3 options for my service.

1, Mortar squad leader in the infantry

2, Transport/POL squad leader in the infantry

3, Airbase maintenance squad leader in the Airforce

I choose the 2nd option.

3 days after I finished schools year 12 I was on the bus heading north to where I was to be based for my 10 month training. (And now we are talking NORTH gentlemen! Some 400km north of Stockholm, effectively putting me on a latitude 400km north of Anchrage, Alaska). I was given 2.5 months of basic training and then was to take command of a squad of soldiers, even be responsible for quite abit of their day to day training.

7.5 months later my service was at an end and I got discharged. It doesn't really end there though, this is when you find out if you get placed in Sweden's wartime forces. If you do you can look forward to maybe being called in for repetition training for a couple of weeks every now and then, its years inbetween though. You also get a reactivation code that can, in case of war, be used to call you back into service.

2002 some 44000 young swedes went through their draft, out of them just over 36% (about 12 000) got conscripted into the armed forces.

1400 of them as Platoon leaders

1200 as Troop leaders

4700 as Squad leaders

and 8800 as Privates

That's it for the lesson in how the swedish armed forces work for today.

I can wouch for that! Especially since one of the privates in my squad nearly gave me a premanent 5.56mm ventilation hole in the head during a live fire drill! The muzzle was about a meter away from my head when he fired and the bullet missed by about 10 centimeters!

Well...

A lot probably. Thumper and Snow will probably feel pretty relieved once I stop nagging at them

My speciallity is the Skins and the charachter textures. Other than that, I'm probably dead weight.

I'm working as if the  where after me, completing textures, reticles, retexturing stuff and all that. The mission I've almost finnished will be included in an internal Beta (I would almost call it Alpha 2!), but the worst thing is, that if I didn't have anything even with a close resemblance to a life (and all the pro's and con's that come with that), those parts would probably be finnished by now :wall: (it takes some 3 hours now to make a skin from scratch)

Other then that, all will be running on as always, Thumper and Snow makes the weapons and charachters, and thankfully, Snow is pretty skilled with IGOR :notworthy: (as I realized first hand as I walked over some alarm-mines that sent every damned tango on the map after me!)

So there you have it people. My family just threw me a dinner (Hare/rabbit shot yesterday, with Hasselback-potaoes  ), celebrating my last weekend at home (I don't know if they'r just happy for me, or very glad to get me out of the way <_< )

Last but not least:

the train goes the 18:th, and as I'm will be packing for the trip and having some serious R&R with some friends, I will probably say my farewells this friday or something like that...

That's gives me some 5 days to work 24/7 and with some caffein, feed through IV, it might work ;-)

That's a good question. How long is SFOR basic training? Snow and I will continue to finalize the weapons, etc. while he's gone. Snow is still here and will be able to get everything organized as we go on. Snow and I will also fill in the tinme blanks with some side projects while Tollen gets to play in the sandbox with his new friends.

SFOR basic isn't my biggest concern, though....when he gets his driver's license is. The roads in Sweden willl never be safe again. Maybe they could send him driving in advance of the primary assault forces to take out large groups of the enemy (after all, won't they be pedestrians?(10 points each)... :P )

No SFOR here. Regular Swedish Army ;)

I'll be gone for 15 months with a bit of a regularity between leaves (and it must be possible to get my hands on a computer!!!). I'm thinking about getting myslef a Laptop, and it wouldn't be that hard if I don't drink, nor eat for the three months...

(Send me a PM for informations regarding donations to the "Laptop to Tollen"-fund )

@Thumper

You backstabbing... My driving isn't that bad. Arctic Rangers walk or ski into action and thus they don't need...

Ohhh... I see your point :'( *please make that mean man go away*

;):P

[Thumper hangs up]

:P:P:P

Just for that, I'm not gonna let you play at my house!

[Atlantic Ocean not withstanding]

j/k, If you visit the US, I'll gladly give you directions.......

Now wait a minute. That pic is a KSP58B that YOU SENT ME as such some two months ago....

Can I get instant replay?!?!?

If you mean the furniture, your guess is as good as mine. I figured IKEA was an americanism based on the broad ignorance of european things common to us yanks...

IKEA was founded and is still lead by a swede called "Ingvar Kamprad" ;)

He started his buisness with selling clips to keep the newly washed clothes to the cloth-lines and well, let's say he's expanded

The right answer is the cup. Each and every time Iv'e sent him a few pics, he always keep on nagging about the IKEA-cup.

Here we see IKEA mug - I hate these because we had them at work... something is just wrong about them.

Here we see Millencolin fan.

I've seen them twice in Canada.

This makes up for the photo of IKEA mug

:P

Ohh well, time to go to work.

I don't think anything really can make up for ABBA! It's got to be one of the cruelest things ever put infront of mankind! I though I was going to be able to get away from it moving as far away from Sweden physicly possible, but to no awail! These crazed australians are even more into ABBA than what swedes are. :wall:

And here's another litte update, the AK5 C family of weapons have been finalised! :D The version of the AK5 C we had displayed earlier has had some major changes to better match with the current AK5 CF (Experimental model), mainly a completely change colour sceme (from green to black) but also added rail on the handguard, last round mechanism, pistol grip from the KSP 90 and longer sight rail.

Snow, you have the blessings of the Master Earl! Woot for you!

on a side note, my coffee cup says "MedSTAR" and has a picture of a Med-Evac helicopter on it. Wonder what that means if truth be spoken on coffee mugs.....

...I guess it means Tollen will be driving near me soon :P
