Setting the server password

Recommended Posts

I have a dedicated GR server and I want to run a server pw only durning certain hours of the day.Turn it on at 8am and remove it at 5pm. I would like the admins to be able to add and remove the password through the edit server function....

The problen I have is I cant get it to stay... I tired adding the pw and saving it as default while in the edit server screen, however it drops the pw when you exit the edit server.

I tried making scripts in IGOR with a pw in it and it appears it looks at the persons computer loading the script, not the server... So I have been unable to make it work the way I want it to....

Is there a trick to apply a pw and having it stay and still allowing admins to go in and out of the edit server and change maps, wiithout having to apply it every time???

i've had this prob but you can get around it by setting a PW, exiting the server (don't save it) with the PW on and having the default access PW in your GR saying the PW then when you are in try save it.

i think this is what i did, try it and if it does't work come back and let us know and people will help :D

I cant run GR tool on my system for some reason, it goes into a no response stat.... So NO I'm not running tools.

Yes I have allow remote access [X]

two things... There is a current file and a default file... The current gets loaded when I launch the server.... I can edit the default all day long, however the current file is always used at launch. So when I want the server to launch w/pw I edited this file and it works like a champ...

I have opened IGOR and opened the default script (on the server system) and edited it adding a pw and saving it as password.ass Then I tried to upload it and it didn't stay...

Does anyone know weather the load is local or does it load from the remote...

If I remember correctly I tried this and it told me I was running a script and wouldn't allow map selection....

The thing that drives me crazy is when you leave the edit server mode and you get the password: not required................ right after you turned it on and it said password: required

I will keep playing with it and if anyone can find any anything consistant, I would hear what you did!!!!

thanks again,

TF

Change the File name of the Script You want to run to ;

default.ass

Note : DL/Save the Original default.ass File beforehand and keep it in a Folder Locally on Your System or the Server's.

;)

The reason for this is that when the Server starts from a Dead State it always resets to the default.ass File anyway and needs to be changed back no matter whether You're running Server tools or not.

Thats the odd thing, my server never starts with the default.ass. In IGOR open the server script editor and select all files... I have a current.but file and mine always uses this file with a fresh start or a crash. It took me awhile to figure that out because I kept editing the the default.ass and then would launch it and find no change... I have to edit the current.but to make the number of players and all the settings I want come up right....

Should I try and delete the current file and see if it launches using a default? I wonder when the currnet file gets created and why it keeps refering to it...

Thanks,

TF

Sorry - I always get the 2 mixed up...

Whichever one It is ( default.ass / current.but ) - Its the one with the Server settings native to It.

Edit the File with whatever changes You'd like to make and then save It as the same File name and then Upload It back to the Server.

Again - Make sure that You have an Unedited Original to go back to If things don't go as desired.

Sincerely,
