Okay I was wondering for all you tech gurus if this LAPTOP will work for GR

Inspiron 1100: Intel® Celeron® Processor,2.0GHz,14.1 XGA

Memory: FREE UPGRADE! 384MB,266MHz,2DIMM

Hard Drives: 30GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive

Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Home

Fixed CD/DVD Drives: 24X CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive Upgrade!

Video Card: 16MB ATi Mobility™ Radeon™7500

I know that I could upgrade by spending 50$ on a 32Meg Video Card

But I was wondering if and how good will GR run on this system (keep in mind it is a laptop and gaming is a second priority on the laptop)

Laptops are by their very nature, hard to judge in terms of gaming compatibility.

Technically speaking, Ghost Recon will very likely run just fine, although with a 16 meg Radeon 7500, I wouldn't even think about trying to turn shadows on, and you may have to play at fairly low details.

You may have an issue with the CD-RW/DVD drive. Since Ghost Recon uses Safedisk copy protection, quite a few CD-RW drives are unable to properly install games, so that may be an issue. There's no way to be entirely sure without actually trying, which is the tricky thing.

Still, I would think that it would be certainly playable.

They are "cards" just not in the same sense that refer to the desktop markets.

It's not a user serviceable part by any practical measure, but since Dell has them built to spec, they can do factory upgrades easily.

See if you can get the FX 5600 128MB GO "Card." If not then look for the Radeon 9000 Mobility. Both would be better than that. This 16mb TNT2 can barely do any games and GR is crappy on it. You can't upgrade tem yourself really at all. They are kinda like cpu's check here

Budget usually is an issue, especially with laptops bro. If you can swing it, get the 32 MB card.

You should be able to play the game fine on that rig. Im running GR on the same speed proc, same memory, with 16MB graphics on a Compaq laptop.

The graphics arent pretty like on a Desktop, but if you dont mind turning the video settings down to play, you should be fine.

The FX5600 go card, if you could get it, will most likely bury your limited budget.

And them some $$$

I would at least look at a Radeon 9000 Mobility, even if you have to sacrifice in some other areas for costs. I remeber when I wanted a laptop.....
