Guest SOG-Phoenix
This might have already been answered here but is there any way to SPEED up the loading process regarding GR ? From the time u click on the GR icon on desktop to the menu screen is what am wondering. Thanks
SOTOMac 0
Disable the "Play Intro Movie" and make sure that Your Ingame Music Score is Selected to "Off" or "Deselected". The first will make the Game Load faster and the second will make the Game run less Laggy once Loaded on Lower End sytems. Regards,
Guest SOG-Phoenix
Thanks SOTO Already done that and I still have close to 30 sec delay. What does the loading process involve other then the engine, textures and network code ? Would duping GR into a RAM DISK help ?
SOTOMac 0
I'd say that 30 seconds is Pretty Good for "GR"... As far as Having It come up as soon as - Say a Program like MSN Messenger or another App. with Similar speed to Desktop - Good Luck with that as I've given all the Advice that I have on that Issue. However - Please post ANY Improvements You might find on that Issue as I'm sure that there are alot of Peeps that would love to speed up their Loading as well, Including Me. Seriously though - 30 Seconds Plus is about what It takes for My "GR" to Load Up, and I have a High End System. Regards,
Tater 0
Same here SotoMac, almost brand new puter, but it still takes forever to load. I've done every P.C. tweaq known to man and everything else is VERY fast, but GR.....slowwwwwwwww.............
Delta 0
phew!...I thought I was alone with load-up dragging along. (I know this thread is pretty old but I thought I'd reply anyway) My theory is the more mods/missions you have installed (not necessarily activated though) the longer it takes. Originally my GR took ~30 secs to load, but now my GR folder is 2.5Gigs (yeah baby!) it takes ~1min to load.
ghost gamer 0
...I have about 12 gigabytes of Gr stuff .....but I only keep two or three campaigns and two or so skins/weapons mods in the GR directory...the rest I keep in folders on the desktop...if someone has alot of mods in the GR directory, maybe moving some of the stuff to folders on the desktop will help speed up the load time....my experience has been if you get too much in the GR directory (not exactly sure how much is too much)...the game will crash trying to load... NurFACE 0
I have 2.6MHZ cpu with 512 memory. It takes me 45 seconds but thats fast enough for me. The subject of how long is has been debated before with no positive answer so maybe emailing Red Storm with this question would get solve curiosity.
Specter 0
See this thread. We did a comparison in this thread of different startups with different mods, and different size directories and timed the GR load times as an experiment. Don't waste your time with Ubi or Redstorm. We tries to get an answer and none was forthcoming.
Kurtz 4
Its your mod folder, the more mods the slower it starts. When I moved my 100 mods to a separate folder, GR started up real fast. The problem is that you have to move mods from folder to folder to use them.
ReconSnake 0
I agree that it has to do with the size of your mod folder. My load-up time has definitely increased over the last year even though I upgraded RAM. I really need to clean that folder out...
