Hapablap Posted January 19, 2003 Share Posted January 19, 2003 The fact is there are cheats and cheaters in this game, it is a topic that non-cheaters are warier of bringing up for fear of being painted with the cheater tag. But I feel that we should discuss the cheats so that non-cheaters can know what to look for. Just because someone racks up a lot of kills, or comes around a corner and kills you does not mean they are cheating. And it is too easy just to think, cheater every time you get killed. I, in order to get away from cheating, souly play on games broadcasted here or on a few select others. I also rarely even play team games anymore because most games played here are co-op. I'de have no problem opening a discussion, although it could lead to others becoming educated on how to cheat and wanting to know more, then using it in a game. MEAN_MOFOKA-GT Posted January 19, 2003 Share Posted January 19, 2003 (edited) Not really anyway to know someones cheating, I come from Rogue Spear, Covert Ops, Urban Ops games in which the main cheats used on there were thing's such as, Auto Aim bots, Show enemies map cheat, Sponge mod (bullet soakers), and so on and so fourth, I am a 56k connection at home I am unable to get anything faster than my current connection. I live in the country and when I join games I have three green bars which indicates a good connection but the point I'm making is the lag effect in games, if you get someone with a sweet connection (T1,T3, DSL) depending on the people he kills in the game if they are dialup then its logical that his connection would dominate a slower one but if they is getting kills against players of the same connection then it might be the computer and hardware specs , really hard nowadays to tell which cheat and which do not , I average a game at least 4-5 kills pending on the amount of players of course but that’s because I play my clan and me and another guy are 56er's and I have learned how to out think faster connections by mainly pre-firing around corners , and playing "what if I were him" scenario’s. XRW_Hotdog Posted January 19, 2003 Share Posted January 19, 2003 I also rarely even play team games anymore because most games played here are co-ophey killa we mainly play seige on our server. sometimes last man standing, only if there are 3-6 people do we bother with co-op. as for cheating, beware of the "Glitch". this is one most teams and clans can't stand because anyone can do it. the worst place to glitch is in a ditch or crater. what happens is the player that is glitching creeps up to the edge of the area he will shoot from. if he is in just the right spot he can shoot anyone he sees in his line of site. the problem is that the other team can see him as well but can't shoot him. you can empty an entire clip into his head and he won't die then the next thing you know you are dead by the same person you were shooting at. it is very frustrating when this happens so most players avoid using craters or ditches for shooting from and just use them for cover when under fire. glitching can also be done in walls and rocks in certain areas as well but is even more of a giveaway what you are doing. San Posted January 21, 2003 Share Posted January 21, 2003 I think cheating will never go away, there's always someone who will find a new way of doing it, because games cant be 100% cheat-free. It's just the person himself: does he want to cheat (if he does he is hehe) Then he's missing a lot of adreline-bursts which you have if your not cheating. Only thing is they take away the fun for others too, and so KILL the cheaters (eh.. not possible: they cheat !) Just think for yourself, you wanna have fun or wanna be an (you know the word !) I don't like when people do it at all and I don't, but the craters would otherwise be great cover and I think that's what they are intended to be for. We need a patch for that. We need a patch for that. i really have to agree with you on this. just last night i was playing the farmhouse level which has a lot of ditches. there was someone in the ditch by the house itself that 4 of us XRW were shooting at from different angles and could not kill. one by one he picked us off because he could see us by our mussle flash and there wasn't much we could about it. i just wonder if the person doing this realizes what he is doing by the amount of gunfire going off around his head, does he think everyone else is just a bad shot maybe? What I meant to say was the servers that people will host time to time, i.e. Fehyd's servers and WK's games. XRW, do you usually encounter cheaters on your servers or instances like one just stated where one won't die when fired at regularly? I always do well no matter where I play, and i see alot of really good players. But I dont think I can honestly say I have seen anyone cheating lately. About a month after the game came out i did record a cheater on a demo, but have not seen any since. Maybe a few glitchers here and there but not enough to upset my game. bottom line....find servers you feel comfortable on and have fun. I can promice you that playing on any 30+ servers you will not run into cheaters. So if your semi mature and want a good game, your welcome on any "Ghost's of 30+" servers running. GG's All. As much as I want to believe you WW, I can asure you that you will never be able to say, that on 30+ servers you won't find cheaters. We run a respectable server and we thought the same thing. Recently however we caught a cheater and that opened our eyes. In my opinion, it will never be possible to ban out cheating entirely. CounterStrike learned that cheaters will always be one step ahead of the anti-cheats. Nevertheless, I totally agree on trying to ban cheating as much as possible as it WILL ruin the game eventually. Let's face it....if we want to ban cheating...then it HAS to start at the developing stage: the software-companies. They need to build in "traps" so cheating is (almost) impossible. But for every lock there's a key.... That being said, a software-company wouldn't care less, as long as the game sells...... Cheaters are very clever and resourceful and will find a way to cheat no matter what. However, I'll be sure to stop by 30+ servers cause I'm sure they are as close to cheat-free as they come...
