Ruin
Here's my bold attempt at telling a war story: Last night I hosted an M16 vs AK-47 game, on the Creek Bed map. The only rule we enforced was no crossing the riverbed. If memory serves, Satillies, Hephaestus and my self were on Red Team armed with AKs. The first go around, I can not for the life of me remember who was on blue. I think it was magnumKP, NYR_32, and two others... DWilliams... and... D'oh, I've forgotten. Anyway, we (red team) were on the East side of the map. The three of us slowly creeped our way to the edge overlook the otherside. Sart being the rambo he is randomly sprayed bullets on to opposing ground. They immediatley opened up on his location giving me time to try and flank them. I will admit, 3rd Burst vs Full Auto isn't overly fair, but it was a great fight. Bullets whizzed, snapped and hissed past my head. I hell back but was wounded thus impairing my aim. I laid down fire towards the origin, but no luck. I finally gave up and randomly sprayed in the general direction. Bizzarely enough I hit someone! Chalk one up for me! Sart and Heph were on the south side of the map in an intense struggle to knock out two opponents. All of the sudden, Sart says "I'm out of ammo." You can't be serious? I thought. Finally, the order was given. If you run out of ammo, get TKed... don't give them the score! Soon after I finally found "the spot" (good luck finding it guys, it's hard to find). The sweet spot on this side of the map that provided me with trees, bushes and ground cover; at the same time letting me lay down some serious smack on my opponents. With one shot to the face I took out several from here. But my location had been given away. Once again I could almost feel the bullets flying by me. I was hit several times, at one point everywhere but by arms. Sart and Heph were guns blazing on the other end of things, so I was pinned down, all on my own. I crept back to try and take cover, maybe relocate. But I went from prone to crouching too early and was shot in the back. ----------------------------- Whatcha think? True stories from the MP battlefield. I think when all was said and done, ten minutes later (infinite respawns), we won with 29 kills to 23. I think this was the round before my mad rampage... Marcinko
JUST AN OPINION, the M16 series would woop up on the ak's. ANY DAY!!!!!!!!! less recoil, the ak's round, will tear through a body like butter, unlike the 5.56 NATO, the M4/M16 is easily modified. The ak, isnt. soooooo many things dominate over the ak, too many to name.
Sart
Yeah but the AKs can spray, nah nah.

I'll take the AK ANYDAY!!!! w/ my buddies sart and ruin. We may not score quite as many kills, but we put on a hell of a firefight and have fun doin it! ----------------------------------- So pick up your M16 and join the fun, everybody! Bring your mothers, brothers, sisters, and cousins... You still wont have full auto or 7.62 at your fingers! But, me, sart, and ruin will Edited July 3, 2003 by hephaestus
MarkVanDamme
1,958 rounds fired baby. Imagine having to clean the rifle that shot that! See you next Thursday!
hephaestus
I propose that the next 'm16 vs. ak47' firefight we have to be on a night map...no night vision. That would combat the 'pickin off'...assuming all would abide by the honor system I can just see the tracers flyin now

connie lingus
Greetings! In the real world there was a lot of hype and propaganda concerning the effectiveness between the AK47 and M16. Add to the fact that the early M16 had jamming problems at first early in the Vietnam campaign, stories of US soldiers using captured AK47's(also using it's sound as to confuse the enemy)were reported. This was used by some as a proof of the inferiority of the M16. Later versions corrected this problem but the simplicity of the AK47 design made for less jamming and less need for cleaning in the harsh jungle elements. Some gunsmiths think the complex gas system in the M16 is inherently prone to trouble compared to other designs. The AK47 like most all Soviet weapons was designed for mass production and ease of maintenance. However, the AK modifications haven't been as good as the M4 carbine. Most experts agree the greatest advantage to the M16 is the long range accuracy of a single shot.
space_man_hal
Does a real M16 have full auto?
Sart
Some older models do, but not the A2.
Zebb
I'll take the 7.62 every time, you hit 'em they stay hit.... Lol
WhiteKnight77
The M16 and M16A1 versions had full auto, the M16A2 has a 3 round burst along with single shot, but no full auto.
NurFACE
You can always smooth down the sear pin to go full auto but explain that your military brass. A group of us thought about it but none of us wanted to face UCMJ.
Marcinko
LOL, just take the good ole M4A1, because the carbine is 3-rnd burst/ semi, but we all knew that didn't we, As far as M16's jammmin, yea, they had there problems, stove pipe, that sorta thing, but from the reports i read, there doin one helluva a job now. I'll play, just as soon as my new HD arrives, gettin dsl tuesday, as the place closes at 7pm, would have had it sooner but nooo, they had to close. bah!
