How to become...

Stalker

Check my sig for Supporting GR.net

There's an explination on Consultant here.

And there haven't been many recent additions to staff since the launch of the new boards, with the exception of Pave Low.

Same for Admin, Rocky, Jester and Xian Saint were all Admin when I joined over a year ago, IIRC. But it's not like the military where you move up in rank. You've got to do some ehavy duty work for the site bnd prove your worth as a member, that's my take on it :D

I'd suggest that if you are interested, you let Rocky know what kinds of things you can do to help out (write, mod, graphics, etc.) and give him some samples. Let him know that you're interested in helping out if he has any odd jobs that need to get done. Pretty much everybody that's ever been a consultant or on staff got there because they just wanted to help and contributed some stuff to the site, then Rocky asked them if they wanted to come on board, not because they had a goal of becoming staff. I started out by offering to write some tutorials and reviews and letting Rocky post my mods at Aggression back before anybody but regs from the newsgroup alt.games.rainbow-six even knew that www.agr-s.com existed. By the time Aggression started getting mentioned on other R6 sites and getting more regular traffic, my name was on the staff page -- Rocky never even asked me.

I wound up an admin at GR.net well before anybody knew it existed, too -- I said to Rocky (around the time RSE released the map-making plug-ins for Rogue Spear) that RS was pretty much played out and that we needed to figure out what the next big RSE game was going to be and launch a totally new site for it. Not long after that, he scooped lots of sites by finding out that it was going to be Ghost Recon and took the initiative to register the URL.

We built on that and now look at the place. It's come a long way since I made the first header graphic and started analyzing screenshots from previews in game magazines to see what we could learn (for instance, in the very first preview article, I found the names of the first several maps in one of the screenshots -- never mentioned in the article).

I remember that time too...

I have, in my ICQ history:

05/Apr/2001, 12:53:

Rocky:

OMG I just registered www.ghostrecon.net !!!!!!

I didn't have a clue what it was though...until of course he said "the new rainbow six" (even though he was slightly wrong)

Yeh, where's a good cleaner when you need one? :P

Nice summary of where we came from Jes, ah those were the days, the days before Day got laid and he actually did some work.

I was wondering what happened to Day now I know.:lol:

Can you blame him? That would probably account for half the disappearances around here -- people discovering sex. The rest all got called to active duty.
