Thanks Dannik for clarifying that as an Admin, so won't discuss this further.  For interest, before posting I did look, but couldn't find SOAF for sale, hence the question (Steam [at least not in my region - Aus.], gog.com, amazon.com.au, or EB Games and JB Hi-Fi [local games shops]).  After reading your msg, I had a wider look, and did find copies on amazon.com.  Even though they won't ship to me, my consideration of SOAF as 'abandonware' was still wrong.

I'll go back to my original plan using an 'origmiss' map for the mission I'm scripting ...

Hi

Idk if this helps anyone, but I have installed Ghost Recon from UbiSoft Connect and have an AMD graphics card, when I would click the shortcut on ghost recon nothing really seemed to happen.  I didn't see any Ghost Recon processes running in the task manager.  I tried to run GhostRecon.exe directly out of the folder as administrator and it gave some error about Couldn't locate entry point in atiumdag.dll ... I google searched this, found someone talking about having the same issue with another game, the solution there was to delete dbghelp.dll from the game directory.  I checked the Ghost Recon game directory, that file exists, I renamed it.  Ghost Recon starts up and appears to work fine.

I had a similar problem with an AMD I had a similar problem with an AMD video card on my old PC. However, I loaded the old drivers from around 2020, and GR worked without problems. I bought a new laptop with an Nvidia graphics card a couple of months ago, and GR works fine with the latest GPU driver updates. I play any modern game with no problems and no errors. The last time I downloaded a new Valorant project, the game ran without mistakes. I'm glad I didn't waste time with the tedious farming part of the game since I bought a cheap upgrade at skycoach.gg. I hope you can solve your problem and play video games in peace.video card on my old PC. However, I loaded the old drivers from around 2020, and GR worked without problems.

Personal update about GR and AMD cards.

My issue with GR not working with a AMD card  having current drivers has been resolved.

I recently installed Steam version of GR on a AMD GPU(latest drivers) machine running Windows 11 and it worked fine. Your mileage may vary.

okay so as a security professional everything about this gives me the heebiejeebies but:

Just an FYI you perform these steps at your own risk, by performing these steps you're agreeing that you will not hold anyone here including myself liable for anything blowing up in your face.

  1. Create a comprehensive offline backup of your system and files before proceeding further, you may choose to skip this step however doing so is on your own volition.
  2. Download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L87haCbSNJIgC2urg2I66Ymik5uSxBmR/view?usp=sharing
  3. Place atiumdag.dll into the root folder of Ghost Recon (where ghostrecon.exe is)
  4. Attempt to run the game, it should now no longer complain about a missing component, if it still does, you may have to place atiumdag.dll into C:\Windows\System32 instead, risky, so take care.

I've taken a cursory glance at the .dll file I've linked and I can see that it does appear to be a legitimate driver component for the old ATI radeon GFX cards, it doesn't appear to call anything I wouldn't expect, but I've not done any comprehensive static analysis on it so please take it with a pinch of salt.

Also footnote; please keep Windows up to date lol. A broken game is better than ransomware.

Hello GR team! I have been asked to wright my problem here.

I have 4 computer I have downloaded GR on I only downloaded the first GR just to see if it works on 8.1 and windows 10. Turns out it won't run on any of my pcs, 3 are 8.1 and one is 10. This is what it does once I click on the application icon and the auto run play button. Shows the Circle loading for a second and then it goes away and the game does nothing.

I was talking to my brother yesterday and I asked him if we ever tried on windows 7 and he said he did try it on Windows 7 and also didn't work a couple of months ago.

Funny enough a year or two ago I had it working on 8.1 and also Windows 7 and then also XP Service Pack 3. It worked great so I'm not sure why recently it's just not working when I download it.

Kind of weird my old monster truck Madness even works on my 8.1 and Windows 10 perfect! Just was playing five player multiplayer custom maps and everything! Monster truck Madness pretty fun!

Anyway hope someone can direct me to the proper steps to take on fixing this problem with 2001 GR not working! 😌

Should work, no matter what type of system you have.
