Rocky Posted October 30, 2016 Share Posted October 30, 2016 At one time there were so many cracking mods coming out that it was hard to keep up, certainly we never had a chance to properly review them all. I think its time some of the little guys got some recognition. Sure there are some huge mods that received thousands of downloads, but there are some little nuggets of gold in the download section that have not received the recognition they deserve. Take a little walk through our mod vault and see if there are you can recall enjoying, that never really got the limelight. I'm going to start it off with American Civil War by Mamon. This poor little mod didn't even have a screenshot on its download entry! I fixed that today though! Some great moments in this mod, that I am still enjoying. A single mission (SP, MP COOP, server-side) created by en4rcment. Once you inspect the ReadMe and then step onto the mod's battlefield, you can immediately tell that it's been a labor of love for the author. A great little mod! Adding the futuristic weaponry from sci-fi shooter legend Quake 3, this isn't your typical GR weapons add-on. A fun addition to our beloved game, nonetheless! A single mission, quite simple in its essence with a music taken from Gladiator (if I'm not mistaken). It has a base mod and then an addon and a patch. I recommend it. Anything by H-Hour as everything is always in its place. Remember it as a heavy firefight with an ongoing assault on the embassy from all sides. I've also been trying out his Sabre Team SAS mod and it seems pretty cool as well. Quality skins all around and I like the custom launchers he created, very easy to use. Monolith's GANGLAND Here Puts a different spin on GR...you play as cops vs gangs. This little mod has it all! The music sets the tone too. Some cool graffiti has been plastered all over this map courtesy of Raven and Wolfsong. BajaBravo did some of the skins, excellent job as always. And Monolith's scripting is top-notch. The gangbangers are strewn all over and come at you from nowhere it seems...sneaky little buggers. I just played through these four missions tonight...playing with the AI is hard. And you have to take the modded M82 for a test....it literally knocks the bad guys right off their feet! There's also more blood than normal when you kill the gangbangers. It took a bunch of us a couple weekends to take that mission down....probably after the nth time. I don't think I could do that mission controlling the AI...BajaBravo and the rest of those dudes who made that mod are evil. I'm aiming to host some games the weekend of the 10th to 12th if all goes well. CO2 could well be on the menu then. That Canadian ips one had a couple great C7 variants that were fun, too. British SAS was a great mod. man, memory lane on this post... 5 mins till launch.
