change the direction of this site

Since Ubisoft has become a sewer of a dev house without any regard for the tactical first person shooter, I have been playing ARMA. Currently ARMA3 Apex is actually very ghost recon-like. And I mean like the ORIGINAL. The latest innovation is multiplayer coop and they are pushing that mode. Exactly the style that made GR great. I think this site would benefit from becoming "ARMA_RECON.NET". When Wildlands is released (and it is already getting bad reviews) the negative press about GR will not do great things for this site. Has this idea been discussed before?

what would be the point? it's been GR.net for 16 years nearly, it's still home to many of us old and gold Ghost Recon 1 fans, we discuss the pros and cons of each game on a regular basis, and there's still people out there modding for the game, and as far as I see it, so long as ghost recon is ghost recon, Rocky will continue to host Ghost Recon.net, it's a lot more than some arbitrary fan-page set up by some guy just last year, this is a tight-knit community, nigh-on family that's been built and strengthened over this past dozen years, sure, we're quiet, but it's better that than a gaggle of different tangents all being discussed at once, not all of us here play arma and i'd eat my pants if Rocky decided to change the site's direction because one guy who played arma that one time said it should. It would be like suggesting we should change the name of the site to "Ground-Branch.net" because I've worked on ground branch and my friend Jeza plays it.

Bohemia Interactive Forums is where the arma community lies, I'm also around there, for the most part its a friendly community, why don't you pitch your tent there if you're looking for like minded players and modders? ;)

I feel your pain regarding ubi######, really, I do, I hate what they're doing too, but we're a lot more than just Ghost Recon Wildlands, there's 15 years of history in this site, those who try to damage ghostrecon.net, an independent fan site for the problems are ubisoft are no better than ubisoft themselves.

Here is a comparison of Ghost Recon and Arma 3 (both screenshots were made by me) - you can see which one is better...

Just kidding. ;)

Joking aside, I really like both games, but like Zeealex said - this is a page for Ghost Recon fans. And it's not like one can't write about different games here - it's just that we need a place as a GR community because GR (and especially the original one) is still very much alive as a game and thus we require a site like this one. :)

Ghostaholic died of "inanition", btw ghostaholic and armaholic co-existed for some years before the general interest in GR dropped down dramatically,  Sunraa used to pay the bill at that time afaik (I used their forums and ftp server, generously offered by him, to develop GR's Sniper Team mod with lightspeed back in 2007 - 2008).

GhostRecon.net is maybe the second / third result on Google and Bing.

It has 14 years worth of legacy with a game that was part of the golden era of FPS gaming.

When I started work on my ArmA 3 mod, the first place I thought of coming to for support was here. Not the Ubiforums or BIS forums.

Stay the course!
